    should i be worried

I think mine's doing the same thing I've got the automatic tranny but mine sounds like what you're describing. I was out hotdoging one night chasing CRX's and I was taching it up around 5,000 then it started to make that rattle sound. It had never done that before. That was maybe 4 or 5...

Help make sure I get a complete turbo block, HELP!

Racer Walsh I think it would also be a good idea to take a look at the blocks Racer Walsh has to offer. You choose the pisons, cranks etc. and you can specify a block that they call "turbo ready". The blocks have been hot tanked and all that stuff. I bet it would be like a brand new engine. :)

    2.3L Duratec

Sounds good... I think the car may have had a rebuild, so the previous owner says, but I never got proof of it. How many times can these motors be rebuilt? Does a rebuild always include the cylenders geting board out? Interesting that the Duratec isn't as tough as the older SOHC. Must be...

    2.3L Duratec

Money is not a problem I plan on not getting rid of this car. I have too much sentimental value attached to it. If I were thinking about money and if doing things for the car were worth it etc. I would have gotten rid of the car a long time ago. I got it for $2,500 its paid for, no...

    2.3L Duratec

I talked about this before I know, but I am really eying this engine. Ford Racing offers a 2003 Ranger 2.3L Duratec crate engine assembly. It's still 140 cu. in but with a DOHC. 135 HP 5050 RPM and 153 ft./lbs of torque @3750 RPM. It has 9.7:1 compression ratio, and the calibration code is...

    Pullies(sp)

Thanks for the replies. Just checking to see if they're worth it. I guess not. Well, maybe it's because the pullies were good quality to begin with? :D

    Pullies(sp)

This has probably been covered before, but I was advised by some 5.0 guys at the latest mustang event I went to put in some billet aluminum pullies(sp) in my 2.3. I saw some underdrive(?) pullies for the 5.0 that claimed 8-10 HP gain. I would doubt we would see power gains like that but does...

Where can I find the horn?

Fixed it! I found the horns and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. One of the wires was connected to the wrong horn which caused the other wire to not have enough slack to connect to the other horn. I fixed it an now I have the old loud horn again. :flag:

Where can I find the horn?

That's what I was affraid of Thanks! I was affraid it was inside the fender! I honked the horn and it soundel like it was in the driver's fender but I couldn't see it so it was just a guess. I looked in my Chilton's but it didn't show anything about the horn. I'm thinking maybe...

Where can I find the horn?

I had the right fender replaced and painted a few years ago. The wierd thing was that the horn and radio wouldn't work when I got the car back. About a week later, the radio and horn worked again but the horn only had its top note working of the three noted chord. Where can I find the horn...

Sludge and or Carbon build-up? Funny thing happend on a road trip

Yesterday, I went on a road trip with a bunch of Mustangs for the West Coast Nationals here in Lacey WA. Me and about 50 other Mustangers went to Mt.St. Hellens (the volcano). Needless to say it was all up hill. We reached about 3,000ft and all the cars started to get slow because of the thin...

    Gas saving power adders

I have a 1989 2.3 convertible with auto, and don't have any of the issues you mention. It's not a V8 with tons of power, but it gets the job done, plus I get from 27 to 30 mpg. :) joe Then something is definately wrong with my engine. Mine's a 1991 with dual plugs and 105HP @4,600RPM. A...

    Gas saving power adders

I didn't cut away the air box, I just removed the bottom square part and just used the lid to hold the K&N air filter. The power increase was pretty good, but the milage went bad. I don't see how the engine heat is an issuse. The cold air intake kits K&N and various other air filter companies...

    Gas saving power adders

I have altered the factory set-up for the air intake by removing the bottom of the air box and using just the top with a K&N air filter, and I removed the silencer. I have pretty good power now, but terrible gas milage. The power gain was not worth the amount of gas being used. I can lay the...

    K&N

Thanks! I never realized it was so full of baffles etc. I didn't remove the whole part but I did take out a cone shaped piece. It took me less than 5 min. It's pretty loud now and the power gain was so so. I should probably find a plain tube to put on because the air passage is kind of small.

    Which part's the silencer?

    T-5 Transmission

Do they make brand-new T-5's anymore? Where can I get a new T-5? How many miles do you think a T-5 can handle? Can I put a Hurst shifter on it? Sorry for all the questions.

    K&N

I havn't really noticed too much difference with the K&N as far as performance goes, however, if you take appart the air box and just use the top lid that connects to the air hose and throttle body, you get some good suction through the air filter. A K&N is worth the extra money. They are...

    Puting her out to pasture

Did Ford use the T-5 with the 2.3L? I know it was used with the 5.0 so I was wondering if it was too much for the 2.3. So can you drive a 2.3L with a T-5 without a turbocharger? Can a N/A 2.3L handle a T-5?
