    Questions about V6 mustangs

V6s require 87, not premium. At least that's what I was told about ford engines and that's what it says in the handbook.

    Amount of mufflers?

What's the advantage of having two muffflers instead of one? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't having two series 40 on a V6 stang result in low backpressure? When I took my mustang to a muffler shop, they put different mufflers on to see which one I liked. In the end, I decided to go with...

60k - clutch on its way out

Do not go to a Ford Dealership, they are complete rip offs. If it is a transmission problem, take it to a small private shop or even Cotton Transmissions or something. My 2000 V6 has 93k miles and the entire manual tranny is still excellent. It may not be your clutch. Anyway, take it to at least...

    Sos!!!

When it starts to shake, are you applying the brakes at all? Have you tried taking the car out of gear when it shakes? - does it stop shaking when cruising in neutral?

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

Yea, I read somewhere that flowmaster mufflers become louder once they break in after a couple of months. How much did you pay Ford to have that fixed? I know Ford charges $90 for diagnoistics, $25 shop fee (like labor/parts fees don't cover everything), and the cost of labor and parts.

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

Yea, I do feel like an idiot having a shop install it. I watched how they did it when they reinstalled it completely when I took the car back to them, man - there's nothing to it. Anyway, the car drives fine. No jerking or coughing sound. The only thing that remains is the check engine light. I...

    Dual V-6 Exhaust Problem?....

Why put a true dual exhaust on a V6 mustang? You could even lose hp. I would simply keep the stock Y-pipe and run a fake dual exhaust from it. It'll still look like a dual exhaust with two pipes coming out. The V6 doesn't put out as enough exhaust for a true dual with H-pipe or X-pipe.

    Horrible Gas Mileage!

I had a 90k tune-up done, it basically included a quick inspection of car, new fuel filter, and new spark plugs. Honestly though, save your money and do it yourself. The spark plugs are so easy to change on the mustangs. You may need a new fuel filter. Is your car auto or stick shift...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

No, those prices I listed were for the intake - not exhaust. I paid $88 labor + about $250ish for parts (pipes, tips, muffler, splitter, hangers, etc...). The reason why a lot of places charge over $100 for intake installation is because they add the time the car just sits there with the battery...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

They did not do the exhaust. I had the exhaust done like a month ago by a muffler shop. I don't understand one thing. I've been to atleast 6 different shops and asked them to install the exhaust. Midas said it's $65/hr and will take them 2 hours to install = $130. Magic Merlin shop said labor is...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

Well I went back to that place to have them check it out, and they said there was nothing wrong as far as installation. He tweaked one of the sensors and restarted the computer. It worked for awhile. The car was driving amazingly. But then the same crap started again. The CEL light came back on...

    Tick Tick Tick sound

Anyone else have a tick tick tick sound while you're driving? I read somewhere that it might be the manifold gaskets or something. It's very annoying and I really want it fixed. When I took my car to Ford, they wanted $90 just to check out the manifold gaskets. So without knowing that's the...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

I think there's a Autozone near the place I had the CAI installed at, so I'll go there tomorrow. But I disconnected the battery today for 30min and put it back in. I can't even describe it. When you put the car in gear and press the gas, it starts making a coughing sound like it's going to die...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

New Problem: Whenever I press the gas now to start moving the car on 1st gear, it jerks like three times before going smoothly. Like: "Voom Voom Voom" and then it gets normal. It's really weird. The exhaust sounds like it's coughing at first. This happened after I had the K&N CAI installed...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

Soccer13en, yes - that's exactly it. I had the exhaust done about a month ago. The intake was installed today. It's the check engine light that has me worried. I'll give it a few days and see how it goes.

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

There's one muffler (Flowmaster Series 10). They made a custom Y-shaped pipe that goes into it, so that I can I have a dual exhaust. All they did basically was add the Flowmaster and another pipe which comes out the back of the car. I might have been misleading when I used the word Y-pipe. It's...

CAI and exhaust make car worse?

I had both items installed by a shop, not by myself. I really don't know how Line X installed the Cold Air Intake. They warned me about the check engine light coming on and said something about disconnecting the negative on the car battery and restarting the computer? What's an AIT? As far as...
