    driveline???

Major surgery needed. IMO, if you are missing ring gear bolts you have SERIOUS problems. I would schedule a comeplete teardown, inspection, and rebuild of your rear diff center section. Missing ring bolts is not something you can live with. Are you people crazy? Do you want your rear diff...

Won't a vacuum test be useless with a procharger blower installed?

    New Svt Engine (Merged)

Get the crate engine for free and pay them for the engine core so you can keep it. Then start a engine build-up using the original engine. Sean Hyland performance is a good place to start for parts/info on DOHC build-ups.

    Recommend Gear Install in Calgary

Yeah, Matt's dad told me they weren't doing much of that in house anymore and pointed me at Jesse for some tranny noise diagnosis (which i never followed up on). Otherwise I would have gone to the the guys at The Mustangshop first. :)

    Recommend Gear Install in Calgary

I want someone *really* good as the last set of gears I had done howled like a beeatch. 4:11's and I want my pinion and carrier bearings done at the same time. The shop has got to be properly kitted out. It would be nice to get a report after on what shims were used and what the final...

LONG: Help diagnose rear diff noise - 1997 Cobra

If you had read my post you would have noticed that with the axles removed, the noise seems to still come from the center section. I am thinking it might be pinion bearing. I'll replace the outer bearings at the same time.

LONG: Help diagnose rear diff noise - 1997 Cobra

1997 Cobra, 60K miles, bone stock. Rear diff is an 8.8, same at GT for past many, many years. I have been noticing quite a bit of noise coming from the rear diff on the car. At slow speeds (<15mph), the noise is either not there or is barely noticeable. At higher speeds, it becomes a...

    Which OBD-II scanner - 97 Cobra

I bought the innova eqqus 3100. Its decent, but lacks real-time data gathering. Also, the instructions had no information on different companies drive cycles. I went to www.obdii.com to get drive cycle info for ford. Once I completed a full drive cycle, everything was coolio. Side note: The...

    new '98 Cobra, got questions

I'll have to check my oil cap and/or manual to be sure. I thought it was 5w30, but it might be 5w20.

    new '98 Cobra, got questions

That makes sense as the Cobras have a remote oil cooler in front of the rad IIRC. ~5 for engine and and extra for cooler capacity would make sense.

    new '98 Cobra, got questions

    3) I have a 97 Cobra with exactly the same engine as yours. Cobra's came from the factory with full-synthetic (Mobil-1?) 5w-30, and I use MObil-1 5w-30 and Ford original equipment fuel filters. Correction: Ford original equipment *OIL* filters (altho I use original fuel filters as well).

    new '98 Cobra, got questions

    1) This website and svtperformance.com are decent starting points forCobra DOHC engine info. 2) Dunno on the owners manual. 3) I have a 97 Cobra with exactly the same engine as yours. Cobra's came from the factory with full-synthetic (Mobil-1?) 5w-30, and I use MObil-1 5w-30 and Ford...

I have had numerous people tell me to get 4.11 gears. Gears supposedly make a total beast out of the 32v DOHC.

Noise coming from rear end/rear brakes

About the car: 1997 Cobra, 100,000 kms (~60k miles). About Me: Mechanically inclined: I've done 5.0 engine builds, replaced suspensions springs/a-arms/control arms, brakes, transmission/clutch remove/replace, etc. I have some sort of noise coming from what I am pretty sure is the rear end...
