70 MM TB, CAI, and it runs slower + idles higher.

70 mm 70 mm too big? Absolute rubbish! It seems to me you forgot to set you tpi voltage when you swapped it off the stock T-B. That voltage adjustment has everything in the world to do with idle speed, quality and throttle response. You will need a digital voltmeter to set the voltage at the...

    spun bearing oil!!!!!!

Spun bearing What difference does that make? (oil viscosity). If you really have a spun bearing, your engine is already blown up and you should not be driving it! :Damnit:

    help with cam selection

Cam The Steeda #18 is probably the hottest cam that is emission legal. Steeda went 11.92/113 way back in 1992 with one with no juice!. The e-cam advanced 4 degrees works well too.

    roller rockers

Last time I checked, the only 5.0 that came with stock roller rockers was the '93 cobra. All others had stamped rockers. The tightening torque is 25 ft lbs. Make sure you can still spin the pushrod with your fingers when you get to 25/lbsft when the valve is closed.

    need cam help

Try advancing your cam 4 degrees like thumper said or get a Steeda #18...it has more low end than the b cam and Steeda went 11.92/113 way back in '92 with NO juice with one.

so whats the stock cams powerband??

More duration will hurt your low end and you will be required to by more stuff to make the new cam compatible. Leave the cam alone! and follow the advice on these forums for stock cam performance setups. I lost some low end below 2800 rpm's and 5 mpg when I switched to the e-cam over from stock...

Is it worth porting stock heads?

stock heads It all depends how fast you ultimately want to go and how much you have to spend. If you are working on a strict budget and just want a real good running street car, the small cam/ported stock heads/gt-40 intake/exhaust will deliver....low end power is where it's at with small...

    MSD Igniton ?

Msd If you used the special harness for 5.0's simply unplug the unit and re-attach the stock coil to check if the problem is in the box.I had a 6al fail because moisture entered where the wires come out. Try to mount it horizontally,if possible. The harness is a good idea if the unit ever fails...

Can I run 1.7rr's with notched KB pistons, e6se heads?

1.7 Rockers It depends mainly on the cam you are running. With a stock cam and notched K-B pistons you should be plenty safe. Max lift means absolutely nothing here, max lift occurs when the piston is halfway down the cylinder; its the overlap period when both valves are open and the piston is...

    cam timing etc. questions HELP!!!!!!

Advance it 4 degrees and you'll be much happier. Chain slack should be almost nil, if it's a fairly new chain. Replace with a FRPP unit if in doubt. When the chain has slack, it's retarding your timing, hurting your low end.

    Thinking of nitrous.

I would recommend the NOS dry system because if you lose fuel pressure the safety switch cuts off the juice, saving your engine. The Msd multi step retard works great like 92notchback says and you can plug in the amount of retard...both work great. I installed mine in 1992, never had a problem.

    valve seals

smoke Your car will smoke a little for a few days because your exhaust system is still saturated with oil from when it was leaking. Just make sure the pcv valve didn't pop outof its grommet.

    e7 heads valvetrain setup

If you are using ALL stock components (stamped rockers, non worked heads, stock pushrods) just put each cylinder on the firing stroke(both valves closed) and torque each rocker arm to 25 ft lbs and use some loctite on the bolts, then do each cylinder going through the firing order and that's it...

just got my first stang, couple q's

Cats I would go with the Bassani's or one from MAC or BBK. Hiflow cats will make about 98% of the power of o/r pipes on a stock or moderately modified street car. Just make sure the car is FULLY up to operating temps before you test.

    nitrous and stock gears!?

Never ran mine with good tires, but I have run 13.20's off the bottle on radials. My car is configured for autocross and thanks to the GT40,stock heads and E cam, it has a great powerband and super mid-range. The throttle-based progressive n20 controller makes it run like a big block car on the...

    Whats a good brand-Timing chain?

Ford racing, period. You can advance or retard the cam with it. Had a brand new Cloyes on my Chevy (came with my engine kit) and it had too much slop and had to be changed with a fed-mogul.

    Car banged up....now?

Axle If your car took a hit on the wheel strong enough to break part of the wheel, chances are very likely you have a bent axle. Stock axles are known to bend/break off in a big impact...also check the wheel itself.

Can you change the lifters with the heads still on???

You can change them with the heads on. Ford machined a recess in bottom of the roller cam heads just for that purpose. Just remember which way the small hole in the lifter points and re-install the same way.

    Car banged up....now?

You could have a bent axle...if the car took a hit on the wheel it is very possible. Jack up BOTH rear wheels off the ground and support, then have someone observe the wheels as they rotate.

    good valve springs to get???

Springs Try the Crane #44308 kit w/ locks & moly retainers they drop right in w/o machining and will go to around .550 lift and are around $110 or so. HTH
