    This isn't the first time I heard that the T-56 is not a good drag racing trans. Why? What makes it not a good trans for drag racing? There is an available 2.97 first gear from D&D and G-Force offers a 2.98 first gear.

    How do dumps affect the power range? Do you gain midrange? Gain upper? Lose midrange? A friend of mine had (If I remember correctly) E cam, Edelbrock heads and GT 40 intake and it sounded pretty damn good with 2 chamber and dumps. Big difference over full exhaust.

    Check the tag which is where the bell housing bolts up (I'm pretty sure that's where it is.) It will have a # that starts with 1352- write the # down and go to www.ddperformance and click on "Ford WC Trans ID" to check it. That will tell you what the trans was originally in.

    The 2.95's will let you go into second at a higher RPM than the 3.35's. So your torque curve will tell you which one is better. But to answer your question, on the street, 3.35's give a nice snap of the neck. But for racing, I'd look into the 2.95 first gear.

    Don't mean to start anything at all but yours is a very odd situation. The trans with the 2.95 will always hold up better than one with 3.35. Also, did you take it easy on the T5Z for the first 500 miles or so? That may have contributed to the problem. If you didn't buy the car new, then...

    Just to warn you, I've heard bad things about FPS on this board. Same with DSS as you found out. I am in the same situation as you but I may go with a 351. Seriously, you should at least check with Rick 91GT about assembling something for you. Who knows, he may even get the parts cheaper...
