Stangnet members on "PASS TIME" tonight 9/2 @9 or 9:30pm

I use a stock air cleaner element from a 390 Ford big block on my engine with of course a 14" K&N inside. I just bolted up a couple of gutter drain "thingies" that I picked up from Home Depot to the front of it. Then added the rubberized 4" hoses that I got from NAPA. Pretty easy really. I have...

Stangnet members on "PASS TIME" tonight 9/2 @9 or 9:30pm

Yeah, I think Ken liked that too! :D It was cool seeing our cars on the show! I wish I knew what my 60 foot was because I know it was slooo. We didn't get a timeslip. Me and David were both 3 tenths off of our best times. I also liked their comments when they said they didn't learn...

I made it onto "PASS TIME" w/ pics

I'm the other guy in the pic! The one with the '66 red coupe. What an awesome experience it was to be chosen on such a cool game show!!:nice: David (ga289stocker) was off his personal best by 3 tenths and I was off mine by 3 tenths as well. I ran an 11.77 on Friday's filming. The headwind was...

    8 inch rear end

I am still using my 8" rear and have tons of 11 second runs on it. The automatic helps the rear end live greatly over a hard hitting stick car. Good traction bars that stop wheel hop are also a must. Wheel hop will break rear end parts. All I have done is studded the pinion support (cheap...

    Cutting 6cyl Springs

I've got 6 cylinder springs on the front of mine and it sits a bit too tall in the front as well. I've even cut maybe 1/4-1/2 of a spring already. I am about to cut another 1/4 coil off and see where that puts me. If I were you I would not go more than 1/2 a coil on the first cut. 1 full coil...

    Torque converter

Definitely get a good (big) stacked plate tranny cooler. The converter will make more heat in the trans. Nice choice on the Edge converter and the TransGo shift kit:nice: I've got the same.

    Hit 6's in the 1/8 mile ....

Congrats on hitting the 6's! That's really where you need to be to run 10's in the 1/4. That sucks about the gasket but at least it's JUST a gasket. Keep up the good work.:nice:

Long wheel studs/ Draglite/ Torq Thrust?

Good deal! That's even cheaper. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the pic Dodgestang.

Long wheel studs/ Draglite/ Torq Thrust?

Thanks for the info 12sec67! I have never seen those splined lug nuts. It looks like that will be my next project. Thanks again!!

Long wheel studs/ Draglite/ Torq Thrust?

On my last trip to the dragstrip I was told I needed longer wheel studs because I run Weld Draglites. They are very thick wheels and the wheel studs must protrude through the wheel stud opening to be legal. I figure these from Moroso would work fine on my '66 Mustang...

    Took It To The Track

Wow! I didn't realize that Lubbock was at such a high elevation. I used to live just outside of Houston and everywhere I traveled, the state seemed very flat. Lubbock is located at 3200ft while Dallas is at a MUCH more HP friendly 500ft. Anyway, you have much more than a 15 second car for sure.

    Took It To The Track

Your 60 footers are really bad. Get them down to 2.2 (still bad) and you will be in the 14's easily.

    Took It To The Track

My old '89 Mustang Convert weighed 3330 lbs. with aluminum wheels and a 4 pt roll bar. It had AC,PS, and electric everything. Most stock LX's are around 3200 lbs. It's not too difficult to get them into the 3000 lb range.

    Took It To The Track

If your track has a scale it would be nice to know the actual weight of your car. I'll bet it is over 3500. Those big converts are pretty darn heavy. Even if race weight is in the upper 3000's, 248rwhp should be enough to get you in the mid 14's. Use this calc for 1/4 mile calculations...

11:1 compression too high for pump gas?

The cam means everything. You could pick a cam with that compression that would ping like crazy on 93 octane or run perfectly fine on 89. I'm with 57fairlane: Get a custom and tell them everything vital about your combo and that you have to run on 91 octane.

    Long Tube Headers - '66 289 (347ci)

You got a very good set of heads. Do not impede their flow if you want to make power. Use at least the Demon 650. My vacuum secondary Speed Demon 650 has propelled my na 347 coupe into the 11's numerous times. I also run Hooker Comp 1 5/8" headers and like coolblue stated, they hang a...

    Snap an 8"?

I still use the 8" with my 347 and have run in the 11's a bunch of times over the last few years on 235/60 MT drag radials. The automatic definitely helps out. Wheel hop can break anything. I use Slide-a-links to cure that problem. You can break the rear with 200 hp if you have bad wheel hop...

That's great info 10secgoal. Thanks. I would love to see some pics if you have any.

I hurt it good this time (pic)

Yeah JB weld should fix it up fine. That sucks man! What do you think was the mode of failure? Too little fuel flow, too much timing, too little octane, combination......?
