    auto tranny question ?

leaking? Sounds like the front seal. If you pull it anyway, it takes about 5 minutes to put in a new seal. Bruce (TX)

Buy it or Not (91 vert)

91 lx value I can suppose that it is a 5.0. $6800 seems high even if it was durn near flawless. Full service records with new tires, brakes etc! Maybe I'm just cheap, but I found a 97 w/55,000 miles for the same price. 13 years and 100,000 miles is about the time that things just wear out...

    Rebuild A4LD Install

I feel your pain!! That lever can be a sumbi^@#! After you get the kickdown lever off, you gotta remove a little pin that is in the pan gasket area at the pivot point. Then you have to snake a 7/8 wrench down on the inside over the inner kickdown lever. Then you can pull it out and flip...

    Rebuild A4LD Install

A4LD install Pretty straightforward swap. Be sure that you get the linkage adjusted properly...it can make it shift funny for some reason. Make sure the converter is properly seated, unless you like destroying trannys. If the converter turns and sounds like it is hitting in the back before you...

    2005 Mustangs cruzin' Texas!!!

I spotted 5 2005 mustangs at a local hotel tonight. All had Michigan Manufacturer plates and the VIN on the front windshield. Apparently these were built in February and are out doing road tests and such. This was in Longview, East Texas. Man, these are some tough looking cars...10 year...

    How do I set the timing on a '91 4 cyl ???

adjusting timing I have been exploring this dilemma and have thoughts of adjusting the crank positioning sensor or even the triggering drum on the harmonic dampener. Just a mental exersize for now and I had to go mow the lawn, but I can see it working. Looks to be a bit of engineering and...

    i want to stay auto

A4LD defense I have to say that the a4ld has gotten a bit of a bad rap too. I see a lot of them that have failed after 100,000 miles or more BUT.....These were never designed to be performance trannies. In fact a4ld stands for Automatic 4-speed Light Duty! I just bought a 91 with a bad a4ld...

top probs?? http://www.fordsunlimited.com/tech/Convertible.htm I found this to be helpful, wiring diagram does not show the relays but is close. Had the same prob with my vert. I just unhooked and rehooked the electricals and loosened and tightened the ground. Works fine! Bruce (TX)

    overdrive broken!!!

Maybe I wasn't clear! I checked the pointer and it is fine. I know about the T-5 swap and I do suspect that it may be blown up and get a T-5. This is not for a race car or a hot rod. It is for cruising around. Once you put the selector in OD and it gets to the point where it should pull it...

    overdrive broken!!!

Yes I did a search! Today I bought a 91 2.3 vert with the a4ld tranny. The overdrive position on the shifter does not let the car move!! If I go from P to 1,2 or D it works fine..If I go to the OD position, it won't go.. even if I go from OD to 1,2 or D. Park is fine, Shifts fine in D. Any...

Finfing a turbo motor Network the area! Get into the local yards and look, ask the counter people about T-birds Mustangs etc. check with the local "Cash for Titles" places. I got a complete running, titled licensed, inspected 86 turbo-coupe for $400.00 at a cash for title place...

So I wanted to get some 17" tires and wheels for my V6, but FORD guy said I couldn't.

17s oh yeah! About 2 years ago I swapped a bathtub for a set of stock 95 GT 17s. Put them on my 95 V6 Mustang and have had no problems...NONE...ZERO...NADA!!! They are easier to keep clean than the old ones too. Stock size Goodyear tires too. Bruce (TX)

    99+ engine swap to 96 v6?

Man am I confused!!??!! O.K. Which is the "hardest swap ever" My 95 6 is looking like a rebuild candidate also. Are you guys saying the 99+ V6 is the hard one? Mine has a burnt valve but the cylinder walls are beautiful. I was looking at possibly using a 99+ motor for the swap or just heads...
