    I strongly advise against skipping gears. You have a TR3650 manual transmission. You will ruin your synchros. The synchros are a week spot for these transmissions.

    DTNODYA When you bleed the brakes with mityvac, did you have the cap on the master cylinder? I do, and I pump the vacuum up to 15 PSI. The fluid comes out in a steady flow until I relieve the pressure. I don't see how I can have a problem with air in the system. No air is introduced.

    Knowing that I'm not the only one who bleeds the brakes with a vacuum pump as I have for 20 years makes me feel better. This is my first ABS brake bleeding job I've done.

    No, the kid said that air can get in and damage the ABS. I don't see how it can, anymore that than any other method.

    I was watching "HorsePowerTV" and they said that they were not using a vacuum pump to bleed the brakes because it could damage the ABS. Is this true? I just blead my brakes with a vacuum pump. The test drive did not though any codes. Should I bleed the brakes again the gas pedal pumping way?

    Thanks RoadconeTuning. Interestingly, the manual doesn't require replacing the rear brake ones. Probly because the front brakes do most of the braking.

    Comparing my old front pads to the new ones, the old ones are only 1/4 worn. They are 75% of the new ones. Should I still replace them? The rears were 1/2 worn so I replaced them.

    The manual says to replace the caliper bolts. I don't have any with me. Does everyone replace them? I don't remember reading to replace them anywhere else.

    Thanks 89lsxsport50 I didn't grease the slide pins. The shop manual didn't say to. It sounds like it should though. I will go back later when it cools down(the weather).

    The bullittarchive site is down. Should I use a dab of high temp grease where the pad sleeves go slide against the caliper holder? Also, should I use lock tight on the caliper pin retainers bolts?

    I'm compressing the rear disk brake piston and adjuster into caliper with caliper adjusting tool. When do I stop turning it? The fluid has stoped coming out but the piston still turns. The caliper fits over the new pads now. The answer seems obvious but I want to be sure.

    Trouble removing transmission >:(

    What would you two (MrcleanCoup and Mitty) do differently if you had to do it again? I need to replace my TR3650 but can't right now. I plan to rebuild or replace the transmission in the near future. Maybe I should loosen or remove the two top bolts first?
