any other stangnetters in the army?

depends on where you're at in GA; Benning, Stewart or Gordon? I know at Gordon they don't have any U Pull lots but they do have some yards where they pull the parts and you just tell them what you're looking for. Plus, right over the state line in SC they have a track.

any other stangnetters in the army?

Yep! I feel for ya. It's gonna be impossible for me to work on it while I'm playin in the sand at the end of the year. PCS'ing to Ft. Riley as part of the transition team at the end of the month  Only good thing is there is a 1/8th mile track near Riley. :nice:

Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

Thanks for this thread Jrichker If your having crazy issues with your throttle sticking or idle staying higher than what it's set at, try loosening the 2 TPS screws a little. EDIT: maybe that wasn't my entire fix! also check your throttle plate screws to make sure they haven't loosened and...

Front wheels off the ground? dragstrip

I've only had the car for about a month now so I'm still feeling her out. I've yet to put the pedal to the metal. I only have one dyno sheet from P.O. and it put down 380 Rwhp/ 388 torque at 7.87 boost. I believe P.O. said the car ran lean so they couldn't max it out and it was tuned after that...

Front wheels off the ground? dragstrip

I swear it looks like the tire stops rotating after the second head and then comences again after the third head. Maybe it's just the camera, either way... I'm havin a blast!

Front wheels off the ground? dragstrip

Is it me or does the front wheel appear to come off the ground? This is my second time to the track ever and I'm hooked :D I had seen a pic from the previous owner where the left wheel was off the ground (frame twist?) but it appeared that the right was planted. He launched at 4K on the...

    Speedometer cable leak

after taking my car to the track I noticed I'm having the same problem . Anyone have a fix? Could also be because I've been doing a lot of work down there trying to fix a reoccuring broken speedo cable, kept snapping at the sharp bend at the trans mount. On the third attempt I replaced the...

    speed in trans

Was it a brand new speedo gear? Do you have a VSS in between your speedo cable and the trans? If you have a vss the the speedo gear slides over the end and is held in place with a type of "C" clip. There is a metal rod extension fixed inside the vss that links the speedo cable and the speedo...

Don't tell me it's not possible!

Must be all about the tires. Took mine to the track yesterday and the best I could do was 13.48 on street radials. The launch was killin me. It was my first time ever at the track so I guess it's not bad. I got a bid in on a set of slicks for the track. Had a blast and will definately be going...

    Speedo Gear

you can check out this site for a speedo gear calculator http://www.sccoa.com/faq/speedgr.html It seems from your setup that you have an 8 tooth drive gear. A 23 tooth speedo gear would get you the closest, but the calculator says you need a 25 or 26 (which the don't make). You would need to...

    speedo gear calculator

I used my GPS to determine speed. I've used it in several other cars and the GPS seems to be dead on at a constant speed. I used the list of gear sizes from the Useful Technical Thread Index, that shows that I would need the 21 tooth gear. Which was still 5-6.6% off / 3-4 Mph. The link...

    speedo gear calculator

Not sure if this has already been posted but through my searches of the site I haven't come across anything like it. I was lookin on EBAY to find a black 20 tooth speedo gear and came across this calculator. http://www.sccoa.com/faq/speedgr.html Not sure on how accurate but it seems to...

speedo cable broke again - solution??? right speedo gear

Thanks TRWXXA, Isn't that more like 5 - 6.6% off? I compaired it to my GPS which has always seemed pretty accurate. I figure if dropping 2 teeth corrected 6 Mph another tooth would correct another 3 Mph. Not trying to get it dead on but as close as possible with what is readily available...

speedo cable broke again - solution??? right speedo gear

I replaced internals of the speedo cable (lubed) and it was good for about 250 miles. This afternoon it broke again in the same place. It seems that the bend angle between the VSS and the trans mount bracket/exhaust hanger is too extreme for the cable. Is there any other adapter I can use to...

    Anyone Here A Cop?

If you decide to go in the military, check with the recruiter and read the fine print. Sure, you might sign up for two years active plus training time for whatever specialty you choose, but it is an 8 year commitment. If you do 2 years active then you'll have to finish the rest in Guard/Reserve...
