    What's the gap for a Pertronix I?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've readjusted it from around 0.060" down to 0.030" and then reset the timing. The hesitation is gone. Thanks again. Jim

    What's the gap for a Pertronix I?

I was getting a bit of hesitation when accelerating on my stang, so I just tuned it up. Plugs, wires, timing, fuel filter, carb rebuild and air filter, but still I get hesitation during acceleration. I figure that I should check the gap on my pertronix ignitor as maybe that is the culprit...

    getting rid of orange peel

You used two compressors? How did you come up with that idea? That's pretty smart if you already had two small compressors. I could see how it works. Very cool!

HELP! New '66; Starts Intermittently - Solenoid?

I once had a problem just like that on an '86 T-Bird. Drove me nuts for about 2 months. It turned out that one of the battery cables went bad. There was a kink that caused enough resistance in the cable which would appear as though the battery was practically dead. If you have corrosion at...

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

Well, I tightened up the torque strap a bit, tuned up the car, tightened up the u-joints at the rear axle/leaf springs and then put on about 50 miles today. Well.... Little to no chatter in first gear now! What a difference! This car is fun to drive again! :D :nice: :) Thanks...

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

OK, I installed the engine mounts this morning and, after taking it out for a test drive, I still have chatter. This evening, I made and installed a torque strap and then took it out for another drive. Still, I get chatter. Hey, it's not as bad as before, but it is still there and I am not...

    Stuck Clutch

I just replaced my old clutch because the old one, installed back in the early 80's, had big issues. One of the symptoms was that upon releasing the clutch pedal, it would not come back up. Basically, the pressure plate was shot and did not have enough force to return the pedal. Sure, your...

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

Thanks Opentracker. If the new mounts don't help, then I'm trying the torque strap.

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

Well, I received the new engine mounts today. So, I guess I will pull the old ones out this weekend. I didn't want to put too many miles on it last Saturday with the chatter. Not that putting on a few extra miles would have changed much. I do like the idea of breaking it in.:D I have a...

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

I had the Z bar out and it looked pretty good. I replaced the nylon bushings, so it is not likely that. I will have a look at the rear axle as I have not even considered that yet. Thanks.

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

OK, I finally finished installing the new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing and flywheel. I took it out for a test drive on Saturday and I still have chatter. I put maybe 10 miles on it before putting it back in the garage. Does it take time for the clutch to break...

    How To Hang The Exhaust

You're lucky they didn't set fire to the gas tank!

    How To Hang The Exhaust

I forgot that. Yes, I changed the brake line on the rear for the dual exhaust. I don't have the plate on the floorpan to attach the muffler hanger and my mufflers do not have an attachment point for the hangers. I can mount the plates, but it does not look like I can use the stock hangers for...

    How To Hang The Exhaust

OK, I've installed the new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing. The transmission is in place and so is the clutch linkage, drive shaft, parking brake cable and shifter. Now, on to the the transmission. The car originally came with a single exhaust and I've picked...

    Hard or Wet?

Nah, no troll here. I got nervous after I bolted up the rear main cap and I figured the title would get me a quick answer. If I made a mistake, I wanted to quickly correct it. I'll be a bit more discrete in the future. Sorry for the alarm. :D

    Hard or Wet?

I cleaned the cap and block surfaces prior to sealing and reassembling. So, no problem there. I just started getting second thoughts after I reassembled it with the sealer wet. Thanks, Jim

    Hard or Wet?

So, I've replaced the rear main seal. Should I have let the Permatex Ultra Black dry first and harden on the rear main cap before bolting it up? Or, is it OK to put the cap back on with the sealant wet? I probably should have asked that question earlier. Thanks, Jim

    Where to Seal?

Well, I dropped the pan and replaced the rear main seal. Not too bad at all. It only took me about 3 hours. While I was at it, I replaced the pilot bearing. That's all for this weekend. Next weekend I install the new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I can't wait! :D
