Apparently came as standard from 66 on - though not on mine...retrofit might be possible, but I think it involves an extra flasher unit, and the switch costs a fortune...

    Sump remobal insitu?

It's Latin for "in place", or "in situation". We Brits are all fluent in Latin you know...:D that word is quite commonly used by engineers and the like over here.

    gas cap question

Cold air should make it run stronger. Pop the cap open, and tape it up so it doesn't chip your paint, then run around the block and see if it makes a difference. If it does, you need a vented cap. If you have a full tank of gas, and you do a good launch you'll be sloshing fuel all over the...

    Sump remobal insitu?

66 289 V8. Can I drop the sump with the engine in place, or do I have to pull it completely, or lift it an inch or so? I need to get to my oil pressure relief valve which appears to be sticking. Thanks for your help. P.S. I meant sump removal, not remobal...what's remobal anyway?

Shift pattern on 3 speed manual...weird

I finally got the engine running on my 66 289, so I turned my attention to the transmission. It's still on axle stands, but with the engine running I gently let the clutch out and I find that reverse isn't where I thought it was. My gear knob shows: R 2 ___ 1 3 I appear...

How to pull a stock distributor???

I had that problem a couple of weeks ago. I got it an inch up and then it stuck. I used a small crow bar (I think you call them pry bars), a tyre lever would be ideal, and gently levered it out. Worked a treat. Go easy if you're thinking of using a hammer - the dizzy casting could shatter.

    3-View images needed.

Mmmmmmmmm 3d CAD. I used to use I-DEAS and have made hundreds of 3d models and assemblies - the surfacing tools are just so powerful. Rapid prototyping is just too cool for words, Stereo Lithography has to be the best, and the resins used now don't suffer from aging quite as badly as the early...

How to Dial In Your Exhaust Note (funny)

Oooh, oooh, yeah, and a set of those wheels that look like they're going round when they're not. Or are they supposed to look like they're not going round when they are...?

Startup after rebuild - oil pressure off the dial...

Not yet, I need to see if our crappy auto shops over here have anything suitable. I can buy stickers, LEDs, spotlamps, big bore bolt-on exhausts, and anything that morons want to put on their mum's shopping rocket, but proper car stuff...nada. I'll try an engineer's factors not far from where...

    My startup video

Thanks Krash, and all the others with encouraging comments, LHD isn't a problem over here - mainstream insurance companies might load you a bit, but if you use a proper classic or American specialist then it really isn't an issue. Inspections (MOT as we call it) are mandatory for any car...

Startup after rebuild - oil pressure off the dial...

Poop - I'll spend the money on a mechanical gauge. I suspect the pressure relief valve has stuck after being left for so long. If I need to get to the valve, where is it, can I just drop the sump?

Startup after rebuild - oil pressure off the dial...

So, I got my baby started at the weekend, it's the first time I've ever heard her - brought a tear to my eye. Anyway, apart from a couple of setbacks, like a leaking fuel pump, the problem that concerns me is the oil pressure is off the gauge. Any ideas what might cause this? The sender...

    The SN65 project car

Electroluminescent wire (and sheet) rocks! You need an inverter to run it, but you can get that from the same supplier as the cable or sheet. It is better suited to backlighting etc. (I'm using some sheet to backlight the gauges on my 66) Not sure if it would be bright enough for a third eye...
