Sump remobal insitu?

66 289 V8. Can I drop the sump with the engine in place, or do I have to pull it completely, or lift it an inch or so?

I need to get to my oil pressure relief valve which appears to be sticking.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I meant sump removal, not remobal...what's remobal anyway?

I figured out the remobal part but what is "insitu"? You been partaking of that fine Belgian Ale?

I dropped my rack and pinion to do mine, but left the tie rods on, you can probably do it by removing the cross member and partially disconnecting the steering.

Thats because even if we're both speaking the same language, the engineer still doesnt understand. :D The ones I have worked with had their heads somewhere else, and I dont mean in the clouds.

Yes, you can remove the 'oil pan' ;) with the engine in. Just pull out the cross memember like they said. My '65 needed the pump to be replaced twice and both times it was done in the car. Luckily its not a Fox3. Some say the pan can be dropped with the engine in, but I just roll my eyes...
