Engine is in! AKA Help I have clearance problems!

I'm using Stock (new) convertible motor mounts. The engine seems to be sitting in the right position. The VC's are tall and square which puts them in the wrong place. I managed to bend the outside ring of the booster and cleared one place it was hitting. If the Cobra booster is no smaller...

Engine is in! AKA Help I have clearance problems!

I can get the vc's clearanced like I did for the alternator but is an involved welding process. The tranny is in so the engine is sitting in the proper position. I'm going to look into the Cobra booster and see where that takes me. I think as a last resort I will change out the vc's but I...

Engine is in! AKA Help I have clearance problems!

That's a 351 Windsor block. I got the long block from DSS stroked to 408 ci. The rest was up to me.

Engine is in! AKA Help I have clearance problems!

Well the engine install went perfectly last night. Here's a link to the picture. http://mustangrenovation2006.shutterfly.com/action/slideshow?a=67b0de21b33bc2314568&auto=0&idx=56&m=1&d=1144174613701 but when I went to install my valve covers I noticed that they touch the brake vacuum...

    Engine bay finally finished (pic)

Ask me a few months from now when the paint is finally off of my finger nails! The engine bay was tough but worth it. Great write up in the magazine by the way. I can't wait to see what you have in store next.

    Engine bay finally finished (pic)

This was before I started working on the car. I plan on finishing the exterior when I get back from the power tour but the outside will remain white on white with salsa pearl metallic ghost flames. I have a custom Cobra R hood (with a 2001 GT recessed scoop molded into it), and a Saleen...

    Engine bay finally finished (pic)

After way too many hours of bodywork I am finally ready to drop the 408 into place. Here is how the engine bay turned out. Hopefully I'll be able to post pics tomorrow of the engine sitting in its rightful place. If someone would like to host some pics for me I have a whole slew of...

    Question about timing

    Question about timing

I am just about to drop the 408 into my 94 GT Convertible. Yesterday I filled it with oil and checked for leaks and pressure with my pre-oiler. This, of course, required me to remove the distributor. As I ran the oil pump I also rotated the motor so the oil would move throughout. All was well...

dynoed my car today...how'd i do??

"This is my girls daily driver." Man...risking a pissed off girl friend as well as a nice motor just so you can post a 600hp dyno sheet... Priceless! At least you've got your priorities straight!

    I Need Help

Pulling the "sheet" out of the bottom will certainly remove it but may bend the frame. There are two small plastic clips between the bottom front of the seat (just above the center of each footwell). The clip is similar to a thin rectangular wire clip. It requires you to use a screwdriver to...

    Water Pump Heater Plugs

]Has anyone tried to pull the brass hose bibs for the heater hoses out of the water pump? I would like to pull them and install some plugs at the water pump itself. Will using a torch work or are they threaded? I won't be needing a heater so rehooking the heater connection is not something to...

    Old School 408 transplant

I'm interested in seeing how it turns out as well! I have an AOD that was built by a local shop with all of the proper internals. That feeds into an aluminum drive shaft and a stock 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears. We'll have to see how everything holds up. I'll have pictures on Tuesday but today I...

    Old School 408 transplant

My goal with this motor is torque. Since most of my driving will be stop light to stop light I was told by the guys at DSS to run the 185's. That doesn't mean I won't run it down the track a few times (at least until they throw me out for not having an adequate rollbar)

    Old School 408 transplant

Zenboy, I just realized that I bought the C/C plates from you. They will go in after I get everything painted.

    Old School 408 transplant

I've been reading this forum for some time now and have finally gotten to the point where I can post some pictures of my progress. The engine is a DSS 408 longblock with AFR 185 heads, X303 cam, edelbrock rpm air gap intake, Barry Grant Demon 750 carb, Kooks 1 7'8" headers and all of the front...
