    BBK clutch cable

The reason cables break is because you're not running a matched set and something is not compatible. You could argue the BBK cable isn't the best quality or whatever. What I found is the BBK (and most aftermarket cables) have a rubber isolator on the firewall end. Over time, this gets crushed...

    BBK clutch cable

+1 for Maximum Motorsports. Call them up and ask about their clutch cables and they'll tell you why they sell the equipment they do. I replaced two broken BBK cables with MM cable, quadrant, and adjuster. No problems since after half a year.

Tuning worth it on stock motor w/ bolt ons

One of the tricks I've done to tune a non-Ford with factory turbo is to use a fuel control device that attaches between the MAF and ECU to alter the signal based on RPM range on graphic equalizer-like knobs. The first thing you do with this is knock all the knobs down to -10% to cut out the...

Tuning worth it on stock motor w/ bolt ons

So would a big cam sway decision to tune? If so, what tuning method would you use? SCT chip? Standalone? Which brand?

    93 gt...idle issues etc...should i go carb?

Idle issues will be the least of your problems if you try switching to carb. That's really easy to work out. Take jrichker's advice. That page helped me resolve an idle and stalling problem I had and it turned out to be vacuum leak at intake manifold gasket and idle set screw adjustment.

    Engine hesitates and stumbles intermittently

I was hoping someone might've experienced this and knew a few things I could check. Recently, my car started developing this hesitation that seems to be slowly getting worse. Mostly, it happens after a cold start and intermittently within the next 10-15 min of driving. For a few seconds at...

Blew clutch cable clean off, cause?

I just installed the MM cable, quadrant, and FW adjuster last night and gave it a quick test drive. First off, pedal effort is GREATLY reduced. It actually feels like a typical sports car, not a leg press machine. What was previously installed was an Anderson quadrant, but with no supporting...

Blew clutch cable clean off, cause?

Thanks. I'll check out the MM cable. There've been plenty of threads here about aftermarket cables snapping, so I'm not completely surprised it happened to me. I just thought I'd at least get some warning, like fraying and stretching before it gave way.

Blew clutch cable clean off, cause?

My setup is a newish BBK cable with 4k miles on it, alum quadrant (unknown make), and FRPP clutch. Since I installed it back in August, the car's been driving and shifting great. While driving today, the cable snapped without warning and the pedal went straight to the floor. I had it towed...

Parking brake doesn't hold - Baer disc upgrade

As far as the calipers working, I believe they do. When in the garage, I engage the parking brake and then try to push the car. It tries to hold, but it lets me budge the car. The explanation from Baer is that disc brakes take a different amount of force to operate than drum brakes...

Parking brake doesn't hold - Baer disc upgrade

I have what I believe is the Baer 13" sport package on with 5 lugs that probably has ~10k miles on it. Since I bought the car, the parking brake has never held the car on even a mild incline. I called up Baer to see what can be done, as there is no adjustment to the parking brake cable...

    Ideal idle RPM?

I haven't looked into an adjustible or restrictor IAC plate. In fact, I didn't know what they were until I read this thread. I don't see the point in having two idle settings. This plate only decreases the effectiveness of the IAC. The true solution is to somehow reprogram the ECU to be less...

    Ideal idle RPM?

What is the factory idle RPM for the 5.0? (specifically my 1990 LX) I have mine set at about 1000, but it just seems like it could tone down to 750. Though, when I bump the base idle down to that the engine tends to stall a lot when I close the throttle and make a turn. I'm sure having HCI...

Good welder to start out with?

I'm thinking of buying this MIG welder on CL. It runs on 110 and comes with bottle and cart. The price seems pretty decent. Is this a good starter set to learn and do basic sheet metal and tubing welds? I don't plan on doing frame work or anything, but fabbing things like exhaust pipes would be...

    not running right(popping from exhaust)

Check for vacuum leaks. Sounds like a problem I had and it turned out to be lower intake bolts worked loose and broke the seal on the intake gasket, among other smaller leaks.

    How to rid exhaust drone?

It's a MAC catback with 2.5" tips, not dumps. It resonates badly at 2000 rpm, but still pretty noisy at all other rpms. I've had Magnaflow on my last (non-Ford) car and liked the fit/finish/sound. I'll have to see about putting them in as replacements. I'm not concerned with losing a few HP...

    How to rid exhaust drone?

I run a MAC cat-back with H, high flow cats, and shorties. I love the sound, but I hate the deafening drone, especially after a long drive. I have a toddler that loves riding in the car and I don't want to damage his hearing, too. Can anyone tell me what they've done to cure a the drone...

    hatch rattling! help!

Make sure the striker still has the plastic sleeve on it. If it's broken off, it'll make shutting it real hard and then it'll rattle badly. Make sure your weatherstripping isn't worn out, too.

    anybody tried powerfire distributors?

Wait, anybody notice something? Ford guy: No way am I putting that thing on my car! It says "GM" on it so it must be a downgrade. Chevy guy: Shyeah right! It says "Ford" on it. It must be junk.
