    Have you check the fluids to see if they have combined to make the milkshake? And there is always the bad tank of gas possibility as the answer to a sudden gasket failure.

    Yeah I agree I would grab everything that will give you luck when you tear down the motor. Even with a blown gasket there should be more compression than that. Was the car running hot when the problem occurred?

    Woops the 4800 was my shift rpm. I did not try an idle launch the lowest I tried was 2000 on the launch. Have you had luck with idle/near idle? An exindust how are the bfg's for grip?

    Could you be a little more specific on the smoke? Is it from around the manifold/header area? Are you lossing any fluids? (ie coolant)

    My top 3 sixty footers averaged 2.260. I tried lower the rpm all the way down to 4800 but still spun 1-2. What are some good streets to run. There was a guy with a bottled LS1 bird running streets. He was turning mid twelves in the 110 range but kinda a dick when I asked him about his tires...

    Let me clarify this somewhat. I ran 15 times, I tried shifting at 5700, 5500, 5400, 5200, 4800, and 6000 rpm. I used aprox the same shift point each shift on a single run. I am baffled by the lack of traction. Are their some tires that grip better than others? (other than DR and MT's)

    When you are at the track? i just went weds and got massive wheel spin on the 1-2 and even the 2-3 sometimes. I am just wondering what I am missing? I never remembered having this many problems shifting and hooking.

    Yeah my best 60 was 2.258. I found the car harder to launch than the 5.0's I've had. Just enough rpm and it would go, get it wrong and it would bog or spin... So no one has a street tire suggestion? I'm just really into seeing what I can turn with streets...

    track in 03 gt, best run was 14.411#@98.12. I think I left alot of ET on the table though. What are your guys using for street tires to hook? I know DR or M/T would be the way to go but I like the idea of street tires. The car came with new goodyear GSC's and they wouldn't bite for anything...

    Ok Twisted, your answer seems logical enough. And what it is what I was afraid of because I don't want to get an aftermarket tach to monitor the motor but oh well. This is the 4.6L newb part here-What is the factory rev limiter? should it be in the 5900 range or the 6200 range?
