Might sound a stupid but I have not owned a PI 4.6L before this. My car is stock 5sp. I can catch 3rd gear hard enough w/a granny shift to trip the traction control and leave rubber w/o it. Is this normal? Keep in mind that I bought this car used so I am not positive about the "stock" part. I am going to take it to the track hopefully tommorrow and see what it turns. Is high thirteens a good possibiblity? (I know driver skill has alot to do with it.)

My drivetrain is stock, and I've tripped it once in 3rd... but it was (IMHO) just the perfect conditions to do so. I can in second pretty much any day, but haven't been able to in 3rd but just that once. Car has just turned 60K miles on it as well.... and I've got a heavier convertible to boot.

Well so far we have 2 that say it's easy and two that say it isn't. Does anyone want to give advise on these PI cars when it comes to the drags?

Thanks everyone :SNSign: Rules.

I've chirped 3rd like 3 or 4 times in a total of 2 years.

if your a good driver and your car is 100% stock. you might be able to hit low 14's. but thats if your a good driver.

Do you have much experiance with a 1/4 mile track?

I have chirpped third quite a few times with my stock gears and I believe I hit fourth once ......dont quote me on that but I seem to remember doing it. Ah now I remember yes I did but it was when I down shifted from 5th to 4th then punched it. There was a ricer trying to do a flyby and I just saw him comming hard at the last sec. I also have a convertible and a 36shi#ty, soon to be fixed. Had the gears changed some time ago and it was pretty normal to chirp third when my transmission was working properly. Fkn synchro an shifting forks :nonono:

i can, in the rain. ive yet to chirp 3rd though on dry pavement, maybe if i was to dump the clutch at 20mph. and i did a 14.022 with mods in my sig.

maybe youre not as stock as you think(possible previous owner installed gears?).

My stock clutch has 105k on it and I have also about had it. It has a mind of its own and is hard to launch anymore. For normal driving, it still works fine though. I'm thinking King Cobra...

Yeah I can feel mine slip juust a little bit on really hard shifts when the tires dont break loose for some reason. As in, due to the clutch. Theres nothing like launching and agressivly shifting a car with a grabby clutch... woo hoo!
