Replacing Coil Springs From My 1968 Shelby Gt500

Attached are the pictures of the spring compressor that I rented from Auto zone. It screws from the bottom. Do not be tempted to turn it over so it is easier to get to. They only took about 10 min each......

American Autowire also has a great kit. Just search the forum and you will get a ton of results comparing the two units.

    1965 Leaf Spring Removal

I sand blasted the both the interior and exterior floors, primed it and covered it in bed liner. The nice part about sand blasting is that it will uncover any weak areas and it is able to get into all of the small areas that you cannot get a sander into.

    Reproduction Doors

After cutting out the rust on the door skin of my 67 I discovered that the bottom of the door is also rusting out. I am now looking at a reproduction door shell. What is the general experience with these? I planned to use the Dynacorn since the quality and fit seems to be better. My main...

    1965 Leaf Spring Removal

Ditto on the angle grinder. After fighting it for 2 days I bought cheap discs from Harbor Freight and was done with both sides in less than a half hour.

Sounds like the headers from FPA are the way to go! Thanks

    390 Exhaust Manifolds

Ok, so stupid question.....I am looking for exhaust manifolds for my 390 (67 S Code) and the heads (C8AE-H) are 14 bolt but everything I see is 8 bolt. FPA has a set of 14 bolt headers and I may go that direction but I am also looking to keep my options open! Does it matter that the heads are...

    Vintage Air or Classic Air

I have started researching different AC systems and the Vintage Air Gen IV SureFit seems to be considerable less ($880 Summit vs. $1499 for Classic Air). Has anyone used the Vintage Air system and does it work well. I assume there is a difference or it would not be so much less! I have used...

    champion racing radiators good/bad?

As for the electric fan, unless you are running on a track the reduction of 10 to 15 HP will more than likley never make a difference. I grew up in a house with street rods and being stuck on 35 while on the way to the nationals in OKC because of a relay that has failed is not a good time...

    Spring removal?

You can use the internal compressors but you need to add a ton of washers to compensate for the short travel of the spring. The washers will go between the top of the top hooks and the end of the "bolt". Just a couple of notes.....DO NOT use an impact wrench and make sure you stay CLEAR of the...

    Front Coil Springs Install Help

I added washers to bring up the nut that is used to compress the spring. This will put it above the opening in the shock tower. If you do not add them the "screw" hits the spring perch and does not allow the spring to set down.

    Interior Sealant?

I used some of the rattle can spray for inner fenders and it was a pain. You can spray 24" and than you need to shake it again. If you don't it will all come out at the same time. I plan to roll mine but would you use the seal sealer after the under coating or before?

    Geetings form Newbie

+1 on upgrading the 289. It will be so much easier to upgrade the engine that was made for that car rather than trying to fit a newer motor into it....

    Transmission paint

Perfect, I wanted to make sure I do it right while it is out of the car.

    Transmission paint

Sorry to all but another question....I degrease, scrubbed, sanded and took a wire wheel to my tranny and it still does not look like cast iron. Would you use a rust converter prior to paint or do I need to just quit asked and wire wheel some more?

    Curious wet spot

Could you use fiberglass for the temporary fix? Seam sealer is great but with a large gap I think this would fill and seal better.. I have not tried this so it is just a thought!
