    Bassani drone

If you go with the catback alone you will have no drone. From your signature it looks like you're still running the stock mid-pipe. Coupled with a Bassani catback, an aftermarket x or h-pipe would make your car sound awesome not to mention the horsepower gain. Every setup drones - just...

    steeda pullies and adjuster?

You're looking at a 10-15 HP gain with the u/d pullies and the adjuster set at 14 degrees. You'll feel it too.

    Anybody running 285/40/17s on a 9" wheel?

I've got 9" rims and I've been considering running 285/40/17's (specifically Nitto's) on my rears. Anybody else running these size tires on a 9" rim. How's the fit (i.e. too much side bulge)?

GT auto to V6 stick - is this a good or bad idea?

Your 4.10s are a great start! You can match or out-punch a 5 speed with the following mods: 1. High stall torque converter (around 2400-2800 rpm stall). A little expensive 2. Shift kit (J-mod). Cheap 3. Tranny cooler. A great and cheap mod. Do a search on your 4R70W transmission and...

What are your shift speeds on your 4R70W transmission?

Ever since I installed my shift kit, my transmission shifts are (obviously) more defined although it feels like it goes into 2nd to quickly. To summarize: 1-2 about 10 mph 2-3 about 25 mph 3-OD about 45 mph I'd like to hear from others with the 4R70W that have shift kits/J-mods and...

Do I need a trans cooler if I do the Jerry Mod?

A transmission cooler is a good, cheap, easy mod regardless of what you do to your transmission.

    Bassani Exhaust

True. But I also think that Bassani gaurantees their stainless steel products for life. IMHO, the extra $150-200 is worth it.

    Bassani Exhaust

The BX is made from aluminized steel (it will rust). The non-BX is made from stainless steel (it won't rust). The BX line is Bassani's more affordable (although lower material quality) line.

For those '96-'98 GTs contemplating a PI/cam swap.

Here's a good video: http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=1726BDAA-F378-41D2-AC15-679E511F3C99&t=recent I'll be doing the VT Stage I's and PI swap in September after my gear swap. My apologies if this has already been posted (or it should be in talk). Any guesses on the...

315/35/17 on a '96-'98 GT. Does yor exhaust rub your tires?

I currently have a Bassani catback on my '98GT with 255/40/17 tires on my rear. There is about an inch gap between the catback and the tire so the biggest I could go with in the rear is 275/40. I would like to get some 17x10.5's with some 315/35's for the rear but there is no way the catback...

rear tires rubbing bassani pipes 295/35/18

I have an 1" to 1 1/2" gap between my pipe and wheel and that's with 255/40/17's. I wanted to put 315/35's on the rears but there's no way they'd fit without some major rubbing. :( :( :( About the biggest I could go is 275/40 on the rears.

Headers suggestion for auto w/Bassani X-pipe

I'll be doing my PI swap in a few months on my '98 GT (auto) and was contemplating swapping out the stock headers as well. I have a Bassani x-pipe and cat back. I was going to get Bassani headers but I don't believe they make them for my year (manual only). Any suggestions or anybody with a...

    Life in my Auto Tranny

My accumulator pistons on my '98 GT were rubber bonded. I also believe that the older style were aluminum while the new style are made of steel. Also, if you do go with 4.10 gears you'll need to recalibrate your speedometer/odometer. I have a Dallas Mustang speed calibrator which works...

    Life in my Auto Tranny

I recently had a Transgo shift kit, 2800 RPM torque converter and tranny cooler installed for my 4R70W and the difference is like night and day. 1-2 and 2-3 is nice and crisp and no longer hesitates like it used to. At the same time it doesn't feel like my whole drivetrain is going to fall...

Cams: Stock vs. PI vs. VT Stage I

I've done a little research but nothing that will answer my question so I thought I would ask the board. I currently have the stock cams in my 98 GT but I also have the complete PI swap kit (including PI cams) sitting in my garage awaiting installation. I was wondering if it was worth it to...

    New to Stangs,.. but..

The main difference is horsepower (225 vs 260) due to the heads/intake manifold/cams. As someone said, the 99+ GTs were power improved (PI). You can slap PI components onto a 96-98 GT as many have done. --Bubba Z.

    Problems with 96-98 4.6 2V Intake manifolds

Everything you've heard is right. This is a very common problem with '96-'98 GT plastic manifolds. My '98 GT manifold was diagnosed with the problem at 70K and finally gave up the ghost at 80K where I had to replace it (with the aluminum crossover). The common area crack is around the...

In what order should I get these mods done?

Thanks all for your help! Makes sense to beef up the tranny before the engine.

In what order should I get these mods done?

I've planned for a few future mods. They will be done one at a time (funds permitting) and the order in which they will be done are: 1. Complete PI swap then 2. Shift kit/torque converter/transmission cooler followed by 3. 3.73s or 4.10s ending with 4. Tuneup (to correct shift points...
