    Header wraping

Ditto to what pakrat said, a heat shield for your starter would have been more practicle. Ive heard some bad stories about wrapping headers. For daily driven cars they are not recommended. But if your car is a weekend warrior/track driven car then you should be ok.... Mike

New technique to rolling a fender....will it work?

Well if i do cut it, the metal will be bent up, not revealing the cut. And a grinder would be used to smooth out any jagged edges. I was thinking the torch would hurt the paint, but I might try it in a inconspicuous spot and see what goes from there....any other thoughts?? Mike

    Help For The New Guy

Well like the other guys said, your not going to get any twisting out of a 289 with those mods. Before the power comes, you need to check out how healthy your engine is. Do a compression check, leak down test, whatever your method is and see how good your rings are holding up.... Do you know how...

New technique to rolling a fender....will it work?

I was thinking the other day, could you use a torch to heat up the metal, soften it and then bend it in? That would be a great way to get the fenders clear from the tire. I fear that if I use a hammer without heat, it will chip the paint. I used pliers/vice grips to get them to bend up half way...

Why are my headlights/interior lights flickering?

Im pretty sure you have a short somewhere in the system. My connection from the tail light harness where it joined to the underdash harness shorted, and yes there was a ton of heat. When I put my headlights on, they would be normal at idle, but after drving around for a bit they would flicker...

Playstation 2 or Xbox... which should I buy?

Too bad you cant have the best of all worlds. I own PS2, and ya right now Socom 2 is probably the greatest game ever. Halo for Xbox is amazing and ya the 16 player LAN partiest are out of control. With Gt4 coming out and the new grand theft auto, I put my vote on PS2. The DVD player comes in...

    Losing cooling fluid!

Yes a properly sealed head gasket would not allow exhaust gasses into the cooling system. If you do detect exhaust gases in your coolant than youve pretty much determined your problem. Mike

    Valve train problems

I was adjusting my rocker arms today. Ive done it a million and 1 times soo im pretty sure im doing this right. tighten unitl you cant turn the pushrod by hand, then give it a 1/2-3/4 turn. Losing cooling fluid!

Im almost positive that the white stuff you described in your radiator is a symptom from a blown headgasket. Pickup a coolant sniffer (about 20 bucks) and see if anything comes up. It will determine if there are exhaust gasses in your coolant, and if so you've got a blown gasket. Mike

    Couple questions from a newbie

Ok first of all, go look at your Vin# on your door sill, you should see a letter 5th in from the left. depending on your letter, will tell you what motor you had from the factory. A 289 is about 4.7 Liters. The 4.6 is the new Mod motor that is very different from the 289/302 small block. As far...

Newly Rebuilt 302 - Continuous smoke out of one pipe! Help!?!

The headers smoking at startup was the paint curing on them, nothing to worry about. The smoke out of the pipe could be several things, I recently had the same problem, and my rocker arms were a little too tight, and i was running a bit rich. Mike
