    What color coolant?

Not true. Take a GM vehicle with Dex-Cool from the factory, go the recommended 100,000 miles before changing it, & it'll look like pudding in your radiator, assuming you haven't already had to replace your water pump because the vanes were eaten away to nothing. Manufacturers are starting to...

Refrigerant leak inside car - how to tell?

If mold & gunk builds up in the case for the evap core, it can make it smell pretty funky when you turn the a/c on. A refrigerant leak is not something you'd normally smell inside the car. At the professional level, you can buy cans of deodorizer to spray into the HVAC air intake at the cowl...

    What color coolant?

Ford's long-life coolant is a nasty yellow that can look orange when dirty, & may have come stock in the car (was stock in both of my 97's). Switch to plain ol' green.

How to set timing without a timing light

The base timing is at 45-55? "Stabbing the dizzy"? Are we talking about a car or some bimbo at happy hour? Damn, I'm getting really old.

Stals when a/c control is moved to any vent position

    Big ol' vacuum leak, maybe?

KYB Users... and anyone who knows suspension.

Speaking from personal experience, KYB's are junk. Best are Koni's, Tokico Illuminas are a good 2nd. Heard lots of good about Bilstein, but never used 'em. Leave the quads stock; once you get good control arms, you can remove them. H&R springs are the best. Don't waste money on isolators...

Check Engine Light, What is the Deal!!!

Skidzz, double check your code. I can't find anything on a P1441; the first code in the evap system is a P1442. I don't think P1441 is a valid number.

Check Engine Light, What is the Deal!!!

QuickStangGT, go to an Auto Zone parts store, & they will tell you what code you have for free. No one here can give you any worthwhile advice without you telling us what code you have first.

1998 - Should I get syncros replaced? And car's got the shakes.

Bad driveshaft makes sense after bent wheels or bad tires. I wouldn't spend the $$ on tranny parts other than a clutch unless the tranny guy says you need them.

    255-40-R17 for 98 cobra rims?

I buy from Tire Rack or Discount Tire (www.tires.com) depending on what I'm getting. Tire Rack will have shops near you that will accept UPS shipment of your tires for you to have them installed by them. An alignment is a good idea with new tires, but not required. I bought Continental...

    Fix your Slow dropping/hanging RPMs

Put about 30 miles on it yesterday; I tightened the clamp down for a bit more restriction. It's made the car much more pleasant to drive w/the a/c on, & God knows, I need the a/c on a lot here!

    AOD Fluid Question

Ford says the fluids are not interchangeable.

    AOD Fluid Question

I'd say about 13 quarts of Mercon.

    Fix your Slow dropping/hanging RPMs

I read this thread (at work, right before closing) because I hate my hanging idle ('97 Cobra) with my a/c on. I went out & looked at my engine for a bit, thinking about how to try restricting airflow to the IAC easily to play aorund with it. The IAC air line on my car is hard plastic with...

    255-40-R17 for 98 cobra rims?

255/4017's suck on SN95's, & they suck on 17x8's. They're too short, so the car looks like a lifted 4x4. They physically fit on the 8" wheel, but they're a pretty tight stuff on there, & they track & feel poor. The only time I like a 255/4017 on a Mustang is on a 9" wheel on a Fox body. I...

    So What Broke Your Cobra?

If you are more concerned with reliability than performance, I would say avoid power adders & stick to bolt ons. Might not hit the 12's, but it'll last longer.

Do 5.0's have freon in them?

R12 manufacturing is banned in the States; the stuff itself is still available & legal for use at repair shops, & R134a is starting to catch up to R12 in price. The R12 systems work best with R12 (around here, a small change in system performance means a lot). Mustangs went to R134a in '94.
