AOD Fluid Question

Im wondering what type of fluid this tranny takes and how much. Im going to be dropping the valve body also. Any ideas? Thanks

I'd say about 13 quarts of Mercon.

Ford says the fluids are not interchangeable.

AODE guys can swap to M-V if the system is completely drained and refilled. But the MV is a synthetic blend and helps with shudder control with regard to the AODE - I dont see the need for it in an AOD.

A trans cooler is a better way to extend the life of the fluid.

Curt's number sounds nice to me. The pan drop will probably lose 3-5 quarts (the converter has half the fluid in the system).
