2005 town car (4.6L 2v V8, 150k, runs on 5W-30). During cold start (especially in cold weather) knocking noise is heard mostly from one side of the engine for about 30-90 seconds, then quiet. I decided to change lifters (hydraulic lash adjusters) and rocker arms and inspect chain while I will be...
Hello Everyone,
I recently had a Spark plug blow out of my cylinder head and became eager to fix it. I have already repaired the spark plug threading on the head and torqued the head down following proper torque spec and sequence procedure. In the process of removing the timing cover I set the...
Took off belt to see if the noise was still there, to my luck it was.. Is this timing chain tensioner/guide related? How much to fix? Video Link Below!!

Hey everyone, this is a stumper for me. My 89 GT will not fire up or stay running unless the base timing is set to ~30 degrees. With the timing light reading 12 degrees the car will crank but not start. While someone is cranking I turn the distributor to 30 degrees it will fire up and run...

A couple of days ago I was driving my 1965 and all was well - nice trip around the "long block". A little later my daughter and her friends wanted me to take...
Recently the one of the guides/tensioners on my timing chain broke. The broken part broke my valve cover. We're trying to replace it but I can't figure out what the part number is. This is on a 2006 4l v6.
The pictures aren't great but could anyone point me in the right direction?
I have a 1996 mustang gt with what sounds like a rattle in the timing chain. I’ve changed all the sprockets. Chains. Guides. Arms. Tensioners. Harmonic balancer. Everything. But the noise remains. I’ve had the timing cover off 4 times trying to figure this out. Any ideas? It’s an intermittent noise.
Howdy,
I want to check my timing chain because i have no idea if/when the POs changed it. Came across this website where duder writes about easy way to check timing chain slack:
