i have a 96 GT with a badass exhaust system. however it is kinda old and i had an accident and the pipes got crushed. i was wondering if anybody has any idea what comes factory on a 01 cobra. i was behind one today and that is the sound i am looking for again. some exhaust systems are loud but they just don't sound good cause they aren't as deep. any suggestions

A little bit of background:
The factory 2001 exhaust was manufactured for FoMoCo by Arvin-Meritor. Many cobra owners have commented that the stock 2001 exhaust was somewhat on the "louder" side for factory exhaust systems. However, there is a consensus among many 99 and 01 owners that the post-fix 99 catback is the louder of the two stock systems.
Chances are the 01 that you listened to had an aftermarket system. Most owners have swapped out their factory Hpipe and catback by now, but there's still a chance that the 01 you heard was running a stock exhaust (unlikely).

I think the 01' factory exhaust was loud for a factory piece. i was very suprised the first time i drove my car, alot louder than the stock gt exhaust, but i think the magnaflow sounds the best on the 01' cobra.
