San Antonio raceway [the track where they raced] is at 600ft, but I would think it would be rather hot and humid there, so dens. alt. may be as high as 2000ft.

you should be 2.0-2.04 for 60 ft.
reaction time has nothing to do with ET.
1/8 mile should be 8.8-8.9
the 1/8 mile per hour is low... very low. 80-81 mph at least 79.
1/4 mph is ok.
it looks like your first 1/8 mile killed you. you need to drop.2 off 60 ft.
practice
practice
practice.
now you see how hard it is to get a good ET. you need to experiment with rpm's at the line. some cars like some tirespin then a solid grab for good 60ft. some like clutch slip to reduce torque on tire. MY best advice is to bypass all these techniques and purchase nitto DR's or whatever brand you like. the rear end will suffer.(spider gears). MPH trap speed at 1/4 was probably good because there is less shifting and more legs in 4 valve. 13.9 is a good time. What is your altitude? you need a correction factor.

but i must say, first ever time at a real track thay is an excellent result. there is no telling how much time you will take off with practice.

well, im gonna be working on my launch. hhmm nitto DRs.. sounds sweet. i am getting that Kenny Brown IRS brace. it should be coming in the mail pretty soon. cant wait for that one. i think that should help the 60ft time a little also. i think i might of been spinning my tires too much on the launch.

I'd say def. work on your 60' times. Also have you dyno'd your car? What does the graph look like? You may be running too rich up top and losing power, and it seems you are waiting too long to shift. If I remember other graphs right, the Cobra's power starts dropping off around 6200 or so... I disagree with not working on the launch and patching the lack of experience with DR's. Even with DR's and guys who dont know what they are doing, I've seen them pull 2.0+ 60' times. I'd say practice till you can consistently cut 2.0 60' times, then get the Dr's. That way you'll have the technique down, and know your car well enough to know what kind of launch it wants/needs to get good times. I'd say you did a good job your first time out, what was the temp out when you went? Are you apart of LSS or AAS?

well, i haven't gotten any dyno #s yet... so your saying i should shift at 6200?? hhmm, i'll try that. i dont know the exact temp but it was pretty hot, it was evening time, maybe 90 or so. i dont know what LSS or AAS is???

I would continue shifting at high RPMs (ie - ~6500-6900). If you start shift too early in the RPM range, the engine/trans will be "out of the powerband" so to speak when you enter the next gear.

You can also try feathering the clutch to get a better 60' time. The 99/01 (or even any other IRS cobra for that matter) can be tricky to learn how to launch.

Keep practicing, experiment with a few different techniques, etc and you'll improve.

I agree with this. My first runs on street radials yielded 1.90's 60' times (auto car)....after Dr's I went to 2.0+.....reason was I didn't know dick about heating them up. Burnout becomes more critical.....talk to experienced people, and spend some time at the track.

Nahm wasnt saying to shift at 6200rpms, I was more implying to get your car dyno'd so you can can figure out what your car's powerband is with you mods. This way you can see where your car's power peeks and you can figure out your shift points from there. Most importantly, have fun with it and dont think you have to run xx.xx @xxxmph or you suck. As with anything there is a learning curve and as you get more experience and learn the car more, your times will drop.

I had an exhaust leak on a 4 cylinder saturn and it sucked. Made it slower, less responsive and pretty much annoying to drive. It was a relativily big leak though, where the headers connect to the downpipe.

Hope that helps some.

i think mine is leaking in that same spot, where x-pipe bolts to the headers. its really pissing me off.

shift rpm's

dude, practive runs at different shift rpm until you get best ET. dont worry about some 'number' you are told to shift at. also if you heat the tires too long they turn into lubricant. I have overheated yokahamas and has to feather nost of the 1/8th. really sucked. don't try to focus on too many things on each run. i have a pre-stage routine. helps me to focus on the tree.

I told you that you would have loads of fun, and that there would be awsome cars there.

I talked to a guy that had a '65 Mustang coupe - ran 10.9 all 3 times that night, it was an awsome car... i hope to have mine looking like his did sometime in the next couple of years. We had a blast - the track is going to be my 2nd home! And, on the plus side - i finally ran into a Chevy (camaro) dude that wasn't a complete jerk-off... needless to say, i was suprised.

looks like my times in a stock 00 GT. I ran that when it was hot here in the south as well. elevation may have a little to do with it. practice and it will come down. your car really loves gears, I would look into them. 4.10s or 4.30s

SAR is a decent track and like others have said your 60ft is killin you. What I am worried about is your 1/8th mph and your 1/4th MPH. seems a but low. Might want to have that leak addresses. I think I know what it is too. Did you change the pass. side gasket when you put on the X pipe? I never even ran a gasket when I had my old 96GT( I was dumb and 18 at the time) and I had an exhaust leak. I'm not saying it could only be that exhaust leak that's killin you, but 1 possible solution. Also, I havent watched the vids yet but the infamous IRS wheel hop is prolly another issue. Anyway all in all it's a bit too slow cause I got a near stock 97 down SAR with a 13.9@103.XX and a 2.1 60ft because of tire spin in 1st and 2nd.
