I just picked up a 2001 mustang gt and I’m having issues with it. The fuel pump does not prime/kick on or even attempts to do anything so I bought a brand new pump, changed it and same thing nothing happens but If we Hotwire and jumper wire stuff with a different battery the fuel pump will constantly prime and work so it’s a good pump. I’ve checked fuses under hood they’re all getting power, then number 2,8 and I think 34 fuses under the steering wheel in that fuse box are also all getting power. My theft light on the dash is blinking fast constantly but I have paper work in the car saying pats has been deleted by Garrett tuning so I’m not sure what’s going on with it. I’ve. Checked grounds, battery is good, pump works if hard wired so it’s good fuses are good, not sure what’s going on

Sounds like a PATS Issue, should not be flashing.

That’s what I thought but I have paper work in the car saying the pats has been deleted by Garrett tuning. And supposedly after it’s deleted it’ll still flash on the dash? Not 100 percent sure it’s just what I’ve read this is the first thing I’ve had with this kind of issue

My 2004 mach 1 is doing the exact same thing. I'm leaning towards getting the PCM repaired if all else fails.

Sadly i still haven’t figured it out completely yet. I wasn’t getting any power to the fpdm and ended up finding a disconnected ground wire by the computer. Fixed it and ended up getting 12.5 volts to the wires but I still can’t hear fuel pump prime when I’m in the car. It’ll start sometimes but when it does it can’t rev over 2k rpms and then it just dies.

Yep, we are in the exact same boat. From what I have gathered is the PCM can still send power to the FPDM but still keep the fuel pump offline if the PCM is not working properly. I had someone with a nice scan tool come out to my house and try to hook it up to my car. It would not read the VIN number and on certain tests it would read "cannot communicate with PCM." I'm almost going to guarantee yours will say the same thing. I am considering sending my PCM to Circuit Board Medics if I can't find anything here in the next few days.

I even had new keys made and the PATS transceiver changed. Fixed nothing regarding the theft light. From what I understand, the theft light will flash if the PATS is tuned out. Mine does the same thing as well. Ran just fine with the THEFT light flashing, then one day stopped running.

I haven’t had new keys made or anything I thought about it. I had a spare mustang here that I took the whole key and ignition out of and my theft light went from flashing super fast to just being on solid the whole time.

Could my pcm still be bad/not sending proper voltage to where it’s needed even though it’ll connect to a code reader? I don’t have a crazy fancy one but the car will talk to my cheap reader

Regarding that issue, the PATS transceiver has to be "mated" to the PCM along with the key. So unfortunately the anti theft components are not really swappable without getting the system reprogrammed.

I believe it could still be bad. If you open up the PCM, there is an insane amount of electronics. Tiny diodes, resistors, relays, etc. So there's no telling if anything could be bad in the PCM without some sort of professional diagnostic. My PCM will talk to my cheap reader, but would not communicate fully with a really nice scanner that can see real time data.

Ill have to see if I can borrow my buddys and see if it’ll connect to his scanner.

Will do, so far still haven’t even driven the car. Back to the beginning, car just cranks and won’t start. Not sure what’s going on with it.
