Hi all,

We are working on a 2002 GT with the stock 4.6. We are looking to replace the fuel pump and have a few questions. We started by attempting to replace it with Ford parts and after calling a few local dealers we have been quoted as $505 dollars for a replacement pump/sender assembly. Seems we can get an aftermarket pump or pump/sender assembly from parts stores for somewhere between about $200 to $275. We are wondering if anyone else has come across this same thing and has some advice for where to get the new pump.

Thank you.

Well this is simple, if you want OEM reliability the you should go with motorcraft. Aftermarket pumps from like autozone, etc you take your chance. I mean with anything you take your chance but, as far as pumps go, these are your choices. You could search ebay or something for a oem replacement.

So do you have to replace the sending unit assembly as well? I can't really imagine why you would.

Assuming that you do not, you can order an SVT Focus fuel pump from Steve @ Tousley Ford for around $160. It comes with the basket for the Focus, but you just remove the pump and replace it with the SVT Focus one. OEM quality and plenty of room to grow in the future. :nice:

If you plan on modding the car in the future go with the SVT focus pump , it will handle alot more power than the stock unit , and did you check rockauto.com on the stock replacement ? They usually have good pricing

Thank you everyone for the help. We ended up going with the Motorcraft pump, and found the best price at Rock Auto as recommended. We are planning on putting it in this weekend.

Thanks again!
