How is the stock 03/04 cobra clutch?

My buddy has a 02 GT and blew his clutch and now is looking at a stock 03/04 Cobra clutch as a replacement.

My only concern is that it is worth his time putting a ford replacement if it is only going to get him more problems.

Thanks

I wouldn't think it would work because the 03/04 Cobra clutch rides on a 10 spline input shaft. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though...

It will work because the cobra t56 and 3650 both have the 10 spline input shaft. The thing that I think you might have a problem with is the diameter of the GT clutch. Its 10.5" clutch so you will need to get a new flywheel because the cobra unit is an 11" clutch setup. You should have the 8 bolt crank since yours is a 99 though.

The 99 to mid 01 has the T45 tranny with the 10.5 clutch and fly
but then they went to the 3650 which uses a 11inch fly and clutch just like the T56

He actually swapped his 3650 to a T45 because he was having so much problems with it, but kept the 11in fly so he still uses a 11in clutch

My bad, I screwed up and thought for some reason we were talking about your 99.
I would suggest the 11" SHD Cobra clutch kit form d&d performance. It uses a valeo pressure plate and McLeod clutch disc. I run one in my 96 and its a great clutch, minimal pedal effort and it can take some power.
