Hey guys, I've done some searching on the forums and it seems that swapping a supercharged 03/04 Cobra motor into an 04 GT should be do-able. Thoughts?

I'd think this would be pretty much straight up, as long as you have the computer to go with the motor. Are you getting the T56 with it as well? (You'd better!) Driveshaft fitment may be an issue...

I'd imagine that if you get the T56 and the DS you won't have an issue, but I'd bet that the distance from the tail of the T-45 or TR-3650 differs to the pumpkin differs from the distance with the T56. I don't believe it will matter if you use your stock solid axle or switch over to the IRS.

Reminder to get the PATS system from the donor car. Otherwise, it will not start. Then you will need to disable PATS with a tuner.

Good info! Thanks guys! One other question, in the FRPP catalogue Ford has some nice 4.6L motors that look cool would something like work or would I need too many little extras to make it work?

Get a donor car as you will need the Cobra's key, column, speedo, ECM. I would put all the Cobra wiring in, dash, underhood, fuse box everything. Don't peice this together. It will nickle and dime you and take lightyears to complete.

if your gettin the t56 with the motor just have your driveshaft shortened. t45 is shorter than a t56. i know cuz i did a t56 swap when i blew the t45 to pieces. your speed sensors for both trannys are the same piece you wont need a different one your speedometer will be off a mile or two. but yeah doin the motor swap should go pretty easy get the computer and all of that and do it right man piecing it together will bite you in the butt later.

Any thoughts on good places to track down these motors and trannys?

Edit: Seems like $10,500 for the motor and tranny is actually not bad seeing as the motor used to sell for $10,500 from Ford Racing. Thoughts?

Sell your GT and buy a cobra. You can sell your car for 8-15k depending on year and mileage and pay 20k or less on a nice 2003 Cobra.

I definitely thought about it, but I've had my GT since day 1 and it never even saw the dealer lot. I've put too much time and effort into it to part with it!

If you do it you should make a progress thread. I would like to follow along on that one.

Forget the 4V: Build a stout 2V and slap a big fat KB blower on it.

Probably be cheaper...
