I'm bogging off my launch at the track (fuel sloshing around) unless I have a 1/2 tank or more. So I decided to buy a baffled 03-04 cobra tank, as well as all the evap parts.

I never dropped a fuel tank before, or installed/messed around with fuel pumps. I have dual focus pumps in there now. Is this something I can do all by myself in my driveway? Any special tools I need?

Also, is there any way this'll screw up my tunes that I have on there now?

I found this write up

http://www.moddedmustangs.com/2003-2...pump-swap.html

I'll try to follow it. Hopefully he didn't leave anything out.

But one thing different is that I have dual focus pumps. Are there any special modifications that have to be made to the Cobra tank to accomodate them?

Nope, just use the two pumps in place of the stock two!

Dropping/swaping the tank is really, really easy, I've had my GT tank completely off before, put it back easily. Take 2-3hrs outa yer day if you really feel apprehensive about it, but its pretty straight forward.

Well, I got it done.

I got stuck trying to disconnect the fuel line connection at the hat. It wouldn't budge so I disconnected it at the fuel filter, and left it connected at the hat. That part was a PITA.

Next, I got stuck on the new evap assembly. On the new assembly I bought, there's an electrical connector, which didn't mate up with the one coming off the car. Also, one of the vent hoses was positioned differently from the old evap unit, and wouldn't reach where it was suppose to go. So I had to use some parts from the old evap unit to get the job done.

When I was done, I put in < 1/4 and drove around. With my old tank, if I had less than 1/4 tank, I'd bog down momentarily when taking turns. But now that's a thing of the past. It felt good taking a turn, and that familar studder is now gone.

This mod will ultimately save $$$ since I no longer have to fill up with 3/4 tank of race fuel at the track. 1/3 tank will probably do.

Heh I am the tuner now ;) So yea its no problem for me to turn all that crap off....and you know, I think ill do it :D Who needs that junk anyways.

i dont see the point in keeping it if it isnt really necessary. i used the evap line that comes off the upper plenum to run my BOV so when it was tuned i figured it would throw a code eventually, so i just had it shut off
