03 Cobra Gas Tank & Pump Questions...

In need of an 03 Cobra gas tank and pump. Anyone know where I could find this stuff reasonably? I've checked a few junkyards, and they are around $500-$600. In the parts computer at a local yard on the Hollander system, it is showing as 03-04 Cobra only. I am thinking it is showing that way only due to the fact that the fuel pump is different. I have been told that the tank itself is the same in 99 up cars. Anybody know if there is any truth to that? I was also told by a good friend that had a turbo Focus that he's heard of a lot of people using Focus pump stuff in 03-04 Cobras; can anyone verify that, and how well it works?

I also posted this in the SVT Tech forum; I need all the help I can get, and fast!

Thanks in advance!

Your best bet if you don't want to pay the $800+ for new is to watch the classifieds.I was able to find mine local for $425 for both tank and pumps. They were only 3 months old and the guy decided to go with return style setup.

LOL, ok. We do have a dealer #, if that makes any difference in price...bf's got a dealer's license through his workplace.

ok, well that price I qouted you is wholesale, list on that stuff is $600.37 for the tank and $586.53 for the pumps:D I dont think you'll find a better deal on new. now if we're shipping to a business, that could knock-off @$10.00 off the shipping cost

ive heard that you could use the pump in the gt housing or somthing like that. not that you are supposed to but my tuner has used the cobra pumps without changing the tank somehow. says they are holding up so far with no problems.

I have heard that too; that's why we're having this issue. A guy that rebuilds cars told us that you could do that, so the bf's taking his word for it, whereas I need positive in-my-face proof that it works, LOL.

What set up are you putting this in? You may not need to go with the cobra tank or duel pumps. That doesn't mean it isn't a good idea if money isn't an issue, but money is ALWAYS an issue.

The alternatives are:
GT tank and pump with a BAP.
GT tank and an SVT focus pump.
GT tank and an SVT focus pump w/ BAP
GT tank and an Aviator pump
GT tank and an Ford GT pump
Cobra tank and duel cobra pumps.
Cobra tank and duel cobra pumps w/ BAP
Cobra tank and duel SVT focus pumps.
Cobra tank and duel SVT focus pumps w/ BAP

If you are making 400hp or less the first two will work.
If you are making < 500hp the first five would work.
The down fall of the gt tank is it is not baffled, so the bucket can run dry if you have less than 1/4 tank under hard acceleration or turning.

It will be going in an 03 Cobra...so it needs the higher flow stuff for sure...not really needing anything drastic; this car will remain pretty stocky, so a factory-style setup or something a little better with a comparable price would be fine.

So why the need for a new set of '03 Cobra tank & pumps for an '03 Cobra??? Is the car wrecked or something? I'm confused on the need for the new stuff?

U.M.

I still say you should go with the Cobra tank and dual Fort GT pumps. That will flow more than enough fuel now and in the future if necessary.

Looks like you need to at the very least go with the stock setup. Is this a salvaged or stripped car? Just curious why you have a cora with no tank.
