03 Cobra Motor Swap into 1998 Gt

I say so. T-45 may not last long with Cobra motor tho.
I mean same block, same motor mount, so I would think they at very least bolts up. But hey, I could be wrong

ok to be smog legal here is what you have to do. you must convert to a returnless style fuel system running stock pressure regulators. you have to run the OEM supercharger pulley. you must use 03 cobra headers and 03 cobra midpipe. we had someone bring in a 96 gt with an 03 cobra motor and we failed him because of still having a return style fuel system.

EDIT: also be prepared to have to visit a referee. thats who i work for. referees cut little to no slack in their inspections, and they are not bribable. and when i say 03 cobra headers and midpipe, i mean the stock ones, or ones with a CARB EO for an 03 cobra. you will probably also have to convert to COP ignition system. and the computer must be an 03 cobra computer. also any CAI you put on must have a CARB EO for an 03 cobra.

Stupid smog nazi laws. :notnice:

I don't see why they can't just get the sniffer and see if it's clean or not. If the exhaust is clean, I don't see why the hell it matters what's going on under the hood.

Here's to being on the other side of the country from the Third Reich, AKA: California Air Research Board. :rlaugh:

better save up ~10k for an 03/04 cobra motor, and who knows what for a T56. Just get a built motor from Modular Ford Powerhouse and throw a KB on it. :nice:

I concur.... spend a little over 3k on a MPH built motor and use the rest for stage 3 heads and blower cams from Tim/ and then a kb 2.2... then proceed to go eat cobras :D

Besides whatever mechanical aspects are needed to make it work, I also see a 3-inch cowl induction or Cobra R hood in your future. :D

if you don't want to switch tranny's get a mach 1 or 01 cobra motor, and then get 3.90 gears or 4.10's.

side note:
So because CA requires a measly 2 cats to pass smog, robbing you of a precious 2-3 hp you all from other states feel the need to start bashing the state. Hmmm.. sounds like there is a little insecurity out there.

I have actually felt 2 earthquakes in my entire life living here in CA.. so sorry guys, we won't be wiped off the face of "your" country quite yet.

And Mexifornia? A statement like that is racist and ignorant.. try some 'ejucashun'

Looks like you guys struck a nerve.
Suck it up wms004. Most of you don't bat an eyelash when you're bashing Canadians. Just grow a thicker skin.

Taking the cats off is a good gain in HP. And it's not just that, everything else is smog nazi over there too. Things HAVE to have a carb number, his 03 engine swap would HAVE to have 03 headers and midpipe, or CARB approved headers and midpipe. I don't see what all the crap is about, it's either clean or it's not.

There was a guy at a car show here who swapped a Z06 (LS6) engine into an S10 (he had the whole truck done in Z06 style too.... ). Anyway, he had a Z06 ECU running the car, and he got failed for inspection.....the ONLY REASON BEING that the computer said it's a Corvette Z06, but the car is an S10. THE EMISSIONS WERE FINE, actually beyond fine since the LS series of engines has a LEV rating, but they just had to bust his chops because the truck is an S10, and the computer says Z06.

Now step back for a second and let that sink in. That's :bs: Whoever came up with that one just needs to die. :notnice:
