in a street race and the 1/8th it will only take a cobra if the mach has a better driver.

most mach 1 I have seen are about 28 and all the cobra's I have seen is 32. that is only a 4,000 dollar difference. for that 4 grand you get built motor, blower, sixspeed, some tight ass seats, and some really nice gauges plus the body kit. you put a blower on a mach on then you have no idea when you will see a rod come through the side of the block.

with rebates being the same you compare sticker prices to get the initial price difference =/- $6k

how can a mach take a cobra from the light? Maybe if the cobra were to have a bad driver and the mach to have a great driver. But stock for stock i do not see how that could happen. maybe it can i am not sure. But i would like to see it. check out the rebates on the cars. i saw a 04 cobra roll off the lot for 28,900 the other day and got 6 grand trade in on a 97 v6 camaro with 200k ha ha

That was my biggest problem with the Cobra, the seats were too tight and I felt like a vice was crushing my internal organs! Still, one could have those seats swapped out for a set of Sparcos, sell the Cobra seats on eBay and come out ahead. My advice to those who are debating this question; quit asking people online and go test drive both cars and decide for yourself.

Well it seems you need to get to the track more the MACH will always launch much better than a Cobra and the last half of the 1/8 will be gaining. IRS sucks in drag racing but great for round track racing.

BTW post a copy of that quote, I didn't fall of the turnipe truck yesterday, Ford doesn't give you JACK for a trade in...........Sorry a bunch of internet BS until you post the quote. As you can see a brought a few Mustang in the last 3 years. If that's ture they are either not selling any Cobras or you can get the Mach for 22k.

As long as the cobra has traction the Mach will loose in every situation. The torque curves speak for themselves.

HELLO real life here it doesn't and never did, it wheel hops bad and has to be launched careful! It's always playing catch up. If the Mach has perfect traction it's beating the Cobra in the 1/4 too and that isn't happening either. This is turning into mag racing wars.

Power to the ground is the game here!

OK you have friends even though you don't work for FORD anymore. But you don't know JACK about prices in any area than yours do you.....H*** NO. The price of cars very depending on which part of the country you live it.....IT WON'T HAPPEN HERE UNLESS I GET MY FRIEND THAT WORKS AT THE FORD GLASS PLANT TO BUY IT FOR ME. If you can get it for that than the Mach is no more than a little over 22k..............that is unless they don't have any and won't discount them......Supply and demand.

I've driven both and spent a lot of time around both. Cobras have killer power and good looks but I can't get over the weight, IRS, and quality issues. My next Mustang will likely be a Mach. With gears and bolt-ons, not much is going to touch you in a 1/4 or less sprint.

Not to start an arguement but the main problem with the 03-04 cobras is wheel hop and traction. I put some nitto 315's on the rear in march and I haven't wheel hopped since. And even with 600hp I don't play catch up due to traction. My car hooks pretty well and as long as I ease into the throttle I rarely spin at all.

you would be crazy to go with the mach 1. Listen to people who have a cobra and have driven a mach 1. People that "Hear what there friends say" are like people who do not want you to have a better car. Just my 2 cents. There are reasons a cobra is better. Instead of spending all that time getting stuff to look good on the out side. SVT spent time under the hood. Sure i like the hoods on the mach 1's and the seats but i would not trade that for the HAND BUILT engine i have under my hood. Insurance is going to be about the same. I have a Camaro LS1 and my cobra i have been to a ton of insurance places asking quotes. By far for somebody my age (20) i have found that geico treats me the best. As far as prices and service goes. i have 3 cars on my policy so i pay about 185 a month. for 2 V8 sports cars and a Chevy silverado V8. for my cobra alone it would be about 100 bucks a month. But i have more than one car on there so i get a discount...... so they tell me. go test drive both of them. Ask some people you know which would be more your style. Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks. Then call around and get insurance quotes.

Exactly!!!, A cobra has "built internals" and the mach doesnt. The cobra will run high 10's-low 11's with a good exhaust, pulley change and 4:10-4:30 gearing and drag radials, a mach can, but will cost u BIG BUCKS to do so. The mach is great for what it is, but a cobra is the real snake that can smoke many cars out there with a few upgrades.

I think you need to get some actual insurance quotes for full coverage before you buy a new car...not sure why you would want to overextend yourself like this, but whatever.

I have a feeling that full insurance on a Cobra is going to be ultra expensive.

My insurance went down $226 a year with the Cobra than it was with the 2002 GT

hey ttown, i dont think you understand i travelled the country as a consultant for dealerships for close to 3 years. Anybody in the world with a brain can get any cobra or mach1 for invoice if you know how to use a phone. The rebates are the only thing that differ throughout the country. so please dont pop off about what i know.

I don't think you understand, past history doesnt' mean Jack. Fact is timing is everything and you should know it. My 03 brought in late June you couldn't get them to come off 1k MSRP but 2 months latter they were 21k to 22k.

If you were half the stud you are in your mind we would be coming to you but that hasn't happened has it. Fact is I used the internet to buy the 04 and Salina (Long McCather) was the cheapest in May of 04. I'd say post for us dumb A** where we can go to pick up our Cobra's since their everywhere for that....NOT. I think we should post a poll and see how many non Ford people can get a Cobra for 28k....Any bets?

dude you are getting real pissy. The prices I have listed is no rebate what I have seen sticker price. With the proper driving of bothe cars the cobra will be faster in a straight line, out the hole, and in the curves. I know you have a mach 1 and maybe you believe in them. I have a 96 and I like them a lot but the 99+ are better than my car. I don't like to think it but they are. The best bang for the buck is the cobra. It was built to be a pure badass and that is what it is so get over it.

No I'm not getting pissy just tiried of the internet BS by Mag racers that's never been to the track. I can see you haven't drove either car. Mustangs and Fast Fords picked the Mach as the best steet car and gave it the nod too in a stoplight race. The solid axle launchs even with the so so Goodyears and everyone knows that. A Mach will hole shot a IRS Cobra peroid and they play catch up the last of the 1/8 mile. The Cobra is faster 1/8 and above but it's not an unbeatable car at a stoplight. Traction is king.....ask the EVO guys how well the big HP cobra does in the 1/4 compared to them......It's a drives race at best at our track, even though the Cobra has the HP.

Now all Jackie needs to do is hook us fellow Stangnet members up with those 28k Cobra's, you know:

1. Name of Dealership
2. Salesman
3. Phone number

How many at that price? Is it a left over 03? A car in a bad color that had body damage they fixed etc?
