I just downloaded the "application" for a '05 body in white and I am not pleased with the "qualifications" needed to get one (we run a-sedan, unsponsored, but we can't win consistently). First, they are twice as much as the '03 was $1800. vs. $3500. (not a firm price- says you will be notified in 30 days) but they aren't even paint blems, they are pulled right off the line. If Ford wants the '05 to get exposure at the SCCA events they have to let "anybody" get one for a fair price, and that means blems. I don't buy into the quality vs. quantity thing either. A few well-funded teams will not make as big of an impact as if 10 show up and place 1,2,3,4,etc. against the C-cars. As far as the paint goes, it's going to get hacked anyway. Does anyone have a line on if Ford will eventually offer blems or reduce the price?

I think not. They had alot of problems with former SN95 BIW's getting out on the street.

SCCA AS? Ford will be glad to get you one. Have you checked the '05 rules? I heard they hadn't addressed the '05 platform?

Costs? I know what it costs to campaign an AS car. The $3500 will be only a very small percentage of the costs. Do you have a donor car? I doubt you could buy the parts from Ford parts yet? Will you make motor mounts to fit the carbed pushrod to the S197?

Wow! I watched the Runoffs. Those AS cars are now very fast and competitive. RocketMan was running mid 1:30's at Mid-O! It seems they have really upped the bar in the last couple of years in AS (& GT1, et al).
