How could Ford scew us like this?
Ford has been saying, since January, that the GT would start under $25,000.
And guess what, the GT Deluxe with destination stickers for $24,995.
Leading us on for over 8 months with this sort of mis-information is just plain wrong.

So would even a v6 base model mustang still be extremely expensive for a 18 year old insurance wise? I'd assume so, but being v6 I don't know.

Mustang again proves it is the best bang for the buck. Where can you get a 300HP rear wheel drive car that runs on regular unleaded? In my case suggested retail is $30,115, I am on the "A" plan which is at $26,484.

It's the best deal out there. Bravo Ford.

I kow what your saying, But the 05 GTO, is suppose to put out 400+ horsies, and thats only 32-33k, next to the 300 horsies at 27-33 u would pay for an 05 mustang. Im still waiting to test drive them before i make my choice tho.

You can still buy a base GT (which isn't exactly a stripper model) for the just $25K, $8K less than the GTO.

if it was up to me to spend 25,000 on a stang i'd buy a rolling chasis SN95 and throw in a nicly built 351 cams,heads,gears,tremec,and drag radials with a supercharger and take on the GTO by like buses and still be under the 25,000

And this my friends, your excitement at the affordibilty of the new GT is one of the biggest reasons why we do not have an IRS standard. There are plenty of cars that cost more that have IRS, but not many, if any, that look that good, have 300hp and cost under 25,000

If I'm not mistaken the goat needs premium fuel.

I wouldn't care if it has a 1,000,000HP, it is ugly as crap.

I went digging through my Mustang file and found the window stickers to three mustangs I bought:
1987 Mustang GT w/ T-tops, loaded: $13,785
1995 Mustang GT Vert, loaded: $23,678
1999 Mustang GT Vert, Loaded: $27,235

It's pretty amazing to look at the inflation as we are saying "Wow! What a deal!" It is a deal, agreed, but pretty funny to remember, not long ago, when you could get a loaded GT for much less than an empty V6 today. Just found it humorous and interesting and though I would share.

When I add up all the prices, the most expensive GT coupe, premium model that I can come up with is $30,115, not $33K. Don't confuse options for the V6 and GT Deluxe models that are part of the standard equipment on the GT Premium:

$25,705 - GT Premium, includes leather, power seat & Shaker 500, T/C, ABS
$ 625 - Destination
$ 995 - ATX
$ 195 - machined 17" wheels
$ 450 - IUP
$ 175 - Color Accent (Red Interior)
$ 255 - Active anti-theft
$ 370 - Side Curtain air bags
$ 50 - Locking Lug Nuts
$1,295 - Shaker 1000
-------
$30,115 TOTAL - That's it you cannot put any other options on an '05 Stang

But since the GTO comes with only a 200 watt audio system, and there is no option for any other audio system, including the Shaker 1000 is not a fair comparison to the GTO. Even the Shaker 500 has 2-1/2 times the audio power as the GTO. The GTO does not have front side curtain air bags, so scratch that option. The GTO does not have optional Red leather seat inserts, locking lug nuts , active anti-theft system either nor are there any wheel options

So a real price comparison of an '05 Stang to a GTO with comparable equipment is (note that I have included the Stang IUP because the GTO has a message center, so I'm making sure the Stang is comparably equipped):

$27,775 - '05 Stang GT Premium with ATX & IUP
$33,495 - '04 GTO with ATX (no other options are available)

According to my calculator that's a $5,720 difference.
In addition, GM has not announced '05 GTO pricing, so the '05 GTO may cost more. I'd bet that there will be at least a 2% inflation increase making the '05 GTO $34,170 or a $6,395 difference. So the '05 GTO will only cost 23% MORE than a comparably equipped '05 Mustang GT.

If you want to compare MTX:
$26.780 - '05 Stang MTX with IUP
$33,855 - '05 GTO MTX - estimate ('05 price is $33,190)

The difference is $7,075 so the GTO costs 27% more than the '05 Stang GT MTX.

To say it another way, your extra GTO HP costs you more than 1-1/4 times what a comparable '05 Stang GT does.

Actually with cuts and the current rebate you can get a GTO for 27,900.
