I think the answer is quite obvious, 619pony - the Mustang had a sub-par driver while the Z had a competent driver.
I learned just how much a difference a good driver can make when I was at the Ford & Mustang Showdown at Englishtown Raceway last weekend. There was another '05 Mustang GT there besides me. It was a manual and it definitely was a V8 (you pop your hood between runs), just like mine. It was pefectly stock, just like mine. The temperature that day was around 88, the track temp around 97. I was running consistent 13.79s with high 1/low 2 second 60' times. Unfortunately, I broke out with a 13.5 later in the day when it got slightly cooler (low 80s). But this other guy wasn't even breaking into the 14s!! He kept running 15.6s and 15.8s with high 2/low 3 second 60' times. He just didn't know how to launch/shift. He was utterly terrible... and he was a pain in the ass to boot. He looked like he was in his late thirities/early forties, yet he followed me (I'm 22) and my g/f (she's turning 20 in a month) around like a lost puppy all day.
Either you know all this stuff and you are a troll, or you are just very naive about drag racing. Nothing to be ashamed of if you're truly naive - we all once were - but if you're a troll, try harder, lol.
