my mom has a 08 gt that came with 18" gunmetal wheels upgraded from the factory. She recently bought 18" chrome bulitts and we have run into a problem with the air pressure sensor in the old wheels. The people at tire kingdom say that the old sensors are held on by a rivet and cant be put on the new wheels. we want air pressure sensors so that there isnt a light on the dash. the mechanic said that we can buy sensors that are 150 a piece. Has anyone run into this problem? thanks

they are on a band which goes around the rim. or you could do what i do and just press reset to turn off that warning light.

Unless something has changed, the sensors are held on by bands and positioned 180 degrees from the valve stem. You can reuse the old sensors but will need to pickup new bands. I believe you can get reuseable bands from Ford that aren't too $$$.

I ran into this on my '08. Ordered it with stock 17's and got a deal on chrome 18's. The actual sensor can be switched over but you do have to buy new bands. Got mine at my dealership for about 40 bucks apiece. They are re-usable though (unlike the stock ones). Try to make sure you put the sensor back on the car in the same position it came from ( example...right rear back on right rear) and you don't have to re program anything. Good luck!

If they happen to switch the position of the tires (or you rotate them) the reset tool is only like $25 and the process to reset them is very simple.
