Ok...So I now have about 35,XXX+ miles on my 2007 GT.

Are there any "things" you guys know about that I should have the dealer check out on my car before I drive through the warranty?

Also, does the drivetrain have a 5/50K warranty? I thought I saw that somewhere...

The car runs pretty much perfect for the most part.

I took my 06 into the dealer a few months because I had a right front clunk. From reading on the forums it was a strut mount. It is Ford Mustang 2005-2007 TSB 07-18-2. I went in and I was 31 days over the 3 year / 36000 mile warranty. Actually it wasn't the mileage but rather the time. I tried negotiating with them but got nowhere. Oh well, I can do it myself anyway. Got any clunking / rattling over bumps? This is a $335+ repair without warranty or this is what the dealer I went to is charging.

Thanks for the reply!

I DID do the strut mount replacement TSB already (quite awhile ago)...and it seems to be driving fine. Nowhere near as quiet in the suspension like my Honda...cough...Accord was...but...its better than before the TSB.

Anyone else?

I thought the same thing with my 05 GT. I bought it in early 2005, and I knew it was a completely new car, so I was afraid all the bugs weren't out. So I eventually bought the extended warranty (which is getting close to running out) but I haven't really needed it for much. Just the usual - front end clunk, skipping CDs in the shaker 1000, and a water leak in the passanger side under the dash. That's all... and I've clocked more than 80K miles...

So...if I have 35K miles, and the car is pretty damn solid...I should be ok then?

Also, does anyone know the powertrain warranty? Is it 5/50k?

I can't go FI...mostly because I don't have a job. And $8K buys a lot of food.

I have been thinking about this. I talked to my dealer about a year ago, and they said a plug change would cost about $250 or so. I'd also have to buy new one-piece plugs..from somewhere.

Tough call. It's not like I'll get a guarantee on a deal if they break anything during replacement. I'll look into it though.

No, it's not. And if they break your plugs, it's not under warranty. I was just asking him if he could cut me a "deal" on price since it's a ghetto design in the first place.

I talked to them today, and they said it'd be around $300...and $50 per plug if one breaks. They said they'd wait til about 50K+ miles, and then swap 'em out.

I'm prolly gonna wait. No job. No "money" coming in, so no sense spending it if I don't have to today.

Why on earth would such a design ever be approved and built?
To think I fussed because 2005 and older Mustangs didn't have an input for an ipod. No wonder why new car manufacturers are having hard times. Some of their designers/builders apparently can't think.

The factory plugs are platinum and designed to last 100K miles - that's why they were approved. 100K is great. No need to change them before 100K miles unless you do some mods that would benefit from different plugs.

However, when it's time to replace those plugs there is a good chance of breaking off one (or more) of them as carbon builds up around the barrel and the weak design of the plug makes them susceptible to breaking against the additional twist required to get them out.

I replaced my plugs at 12K miles when the supercharger went on (which benefits from colder copper plugs). I didn't break any of the plugs.
