1.7 RR help

ok, so im not sure if its ok to stick in 1.7 RR on stock 5.0 heads and stock cam with a cobra intake. im going to work on the heads but not right now (short on money). i just wanna know if it will work.

1.7's will work and has been done many times. I would get fresh valve springs though, the stockers are on the weak side and if they have some mileage on them they won't like the 1.7 upgrade. you may have to run a thicker valve cover gasket or trim out the baffle on th oil fill side, there can be clearance issues with the rockers. good luck.

It will absolutely work. I have 1.7 RRs on my E7s and they work just fine with the stock valve covers. Of course, there's a little scarring on the tops of the rocker arms but nothing serious. I'm about to install the Cobra valve covers which should eleviate the problem quite successfully. :nice:

not meaning to threadjack but what is the reason for switching to 1.7's with a stock cam and heads?

moving to the 1.7's with the stock cam will change the lift from .444 to .471 and will net some more hp. you wont feel it in the butt per say, a dyno would pick it up. it also moves the power band up some in the revs a little I believe.
