Was it totally bone stock, or was it "bone stock" as in it had a basic tune that firmed up the shifting line pressures and adjusted the shift scheduling, revlimiters, and perhaps even spark? If it was genuinely factory bone stock, then that is very respectable especially for a 5-speed (auto). The 5-speed (manual) is pretty nice and I've speed shifted it on the road a few times w/o much difficulty. On rev-matched upshifts, the 5-speed (manual) is so smooth that a passenger wouldn't have felt the change in gear.

I have no doubt i can get my stock vert into 13's.I run a Fontana which isnt a very fast track. In a very bad headwind, i still ran a 14.2. I have found launching at 1500-2000 results in better 60 ft times.I have a little more clutch time now, so i feel confident 13's are within reach next time out.I went to Orlando Speedworld tonight with my 2007 GT/CS 5 speed and ran 14.29 and 14.26 respectively. I have Borla stinger axlebacks as my only mod. The temperature was about 48 degrees (yes this is Florida). However I could get no traction. I would like to know how you can run 13's stock on the street tires? I am new as far as drag racing but I think the track had problems. There were 3 mazda rotarys that blew up and spilt fluids all over the track. I launched at 2500 rpms and slipped the clutch out. My tires showed 25 psi after letting air out but I feel as though maybe it was more than 25.
Why not do a computer simulation, keep your car in the garage so it doesn't get dirty and call it a day?Are there more dyno facilities that allow you to run the 1/4 mile on their rollers? I recall someone on TMS having that capability. I think that is a neat way of operating a "1/4 mile" track without causing trouble for neighbors and so you can get bragging rights for your car the fast way without wearing out your tires or brakes.
In the Vid, Evan Smith stated he revved the motor to 5 grand, then launched by slipping the clutch.
