140 speedo?

i got a 88 gt...and of course it only tells me how fast im going til i hit 85mph. The only good thing about having that is if i ever get pulled over...i can just tell the cop my car only goes up to 85mph and then point at the speedometer....but i was thinking about a cobra gause cluster, but what exactly would i have to do? i know i have to recalibrate the speedo, or is that already done in the 140 cluster?.....plz someone let me know what to do.

You need to get a speedometer gauge unit from a salvage yard from a late '88-89 V8 mustang. You do not need the entire gauge pod,(speedo, tack, etc assembly), just the speedo head unit that litterally unplugs from the gauge assembly once you remove the clear plastic cover & pull the speedo cable off from the backside. 90-93 speedo head units are different & not compatable with your '89 from what I've read in previous threads on other mustang forums. You might go to www.corral.net & do a search; I'm certain this topic has been covered many times. I cannot tell you anything about speedometer calibration.....Good luck!
