Not that I'm going to do this, but my friend wants to put Saleen replicas 18X9 on his Nissan Silvia S14. My question is that would 225/40/ZR18's fit on Saleen replicas? I have 245/40/ZR18's and they barely seem to fit.

9" is too wide for a 225 tire. the 225 cross section works out to 8.85" of absolute width. He might get them on the wheels, but they would look terrible. I would consider 245 the minimum tire for a 9" wheel.

Isn't that the same as a 240SX? According to The Tire Rack the widest wheel you can get is a 7.5" and they only recomend 215 tires.

He shouldn't do it. tjm73 is right, it wouldn't look good or perform good. Take one of the wheels off of you Faleen and put it on his Silvia. That would be one way to find out if a 9 inch wheel with 245's would fit his car.

Yeah the S14 is the same body as the 240SX. Thanks for your input on the tire sizes

I would try that but his Silvia is currently 4-lug and he's getting it converted to 5.

even so, just wait till he finishes the conversion and then chuck one of your wheels on.

my friend is planning to convert his car, get the wheels on the same day, get his new brakes on, turbo timer, etc. so i guess we'll see if it works, i honestly think 245/40/ZR18's are already the bare minimum because it looks like it barely fits my wheel replicas.

Hi you guys, I'm the friend that Seraphitia102 is talking about. I own the 240sx. I plan to put 18x9 Saleen wheels on my 240 because I love mustang wheels. I do own a mustang my self so that why I love them. Now I'm not 100% what size tires I need but I think 225/40/ZR18's will fit. And yes 18X9 fit on a 240sx. here is pic of a 240sx with Mustang cobra wheels: 18X9 +26 with 225/40/ZR18 all around (not my car).

If I do get 245/40/zr18 will my speedo be off? Right now I have 215/40/ZR17s.
