You don't necessarily need hardened pushrods, you only need those if these heads have been converted to screw in studs with guideplates. You WILL need to buy a pushrod length checker and get custom pushrods made to fit, early SBF heads on a 302 take some STRANGE length pushrods. That should just about do it.

PS: If these heads still have the press in studs, it might be a good idea to get them converted to screw in studs, a cam with violent action (like a hyd roller) or a cam over .500 lift will rip the pressed in studs out sooner or later, how soon depends on the cam
PPS: Those heads aint anything special, why bother?
actually the pre 1967 289 heads are far better than the gt 40,s
they flow way more and almost a 75 horsepower gain by putting these on a 302 roller engine

i seen t he article in car craft they did the same swap the 302 almost produced 400 horsepower one thing they did weird was turn the pistons around says it up,s the compression and they said only pre 67 heads
All 65-67 289 heads are identical...no way in hell you'd make 400hp with a stock set anyway, or would you EVER do it with 289 heads without one hell of an intake, a lot of compression and a big cam.
