1967 Mustang Restoration

A lot........ Pics would help, but why not just make it a project. Set it aside, and work on it bit by bit over the next 5 years or so. You will save cash, and have the greatest sense of accomplishment when done.

yes. And you might invest some money into a chiltons book and a some tools(plus find hardwares stores that loan tools).

Since I do all of my work myself I don't know the going rates. I did hear the price of just replacing cowl vents was about $1,200 alone and that's been a few years ago. If there is very much wrong with it you'll have much more in the car than it's worth by hiring the work out.

A) determine what really needs to be done, body work is very expensive...the most expensive to deal with, body planels re-aligned is often an indication of unibody structural issues. You can have a shop look at your car and even then they won't commit to a flat fee because they never know what they will run into. That's understandable.

B) Once you determine what you actually need, look at the cost of having someone do it and then double it. I know that sounds flip but I am not trying to be...if you come in under that number great, but at least plan on it.

C) If you decide that you don't mind spending amount X to have someone do the restoration, think long and hard, because chances are you could take X + whatever your car sells for and have a car to drive NOW instead of waiting for the restoration to be done. The only caveat to that is, this assume you buy a car in as good a shape as your current car would be when you finished restoring it.


Do the numbers and see how it works out, but no matter what....have a plan. Good luck to you my friend.
