I have a 1972 MACH 1 with 351 Cleveland. I have installed a Cherry Bomb exhaust which it to loud. I am planning to replace it with a Flow Master Exhaust which has the deep sound of a mustang but not too loud. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I have always liked the sound of an H pipe and original 40 series flow master mufflers. Especially when they are behind a set of long tube headers. Put that combo on a Cleveland, that’s music to my ears.
With a 351C and if you have headers (please tell me you do) then IMO you would want 2-1/2" at a minimum (3" will be better) exhaust with either an H or X pipe, your choice of mufflers, and tail pipes out the back.
I heard a set of Flowmaster Super HP-2's last weekend on a 347W with 1-3./4" full length headers and full 2-1/2" exhaust with an X pipe and it was super nice. I am considering swapping out my 40 series on my Coupe over to them.
