Would the block out of a 1983 Capri V-8 work in a 1989 Mustang. I have a cracked block and would like to do a rebuild. Would this block work? My 89 is a V-8 also

Yes and no. It will "work" but you will need to do some work to make it a roller motor (use your '89 roller lifters) and you must deal with the imbalance issues. You will need to drill and tap the block for your spider (it holds down the dog bones that keep your lifters in place) and get a small base circle cam to allow use of your roller lifters. You could just use it as an '83 style flat tappet engine and get a different dist gear for the flat tappet cam. Your present '89 gear is for a roller cam and will eat-up the dist gear. I would recommend having the engine balanced using your 50 oz, '89 harmonic balancer and flywheel (or flexplate).

the imbalance issues are for pre 81 cranks. after 81 they are all 50oz imbalance, before that they have the same imbalance as a 351 which is 28oz.

IGBNF7, that '83 Capri from which the engine is being taken doesn't happened to have a nice clean body, does it? I'd like to find a clean old fox body.
