hard to find this in a search. What all will i need to do this conversion completely. I need a hood and have the front bumper, headlights, and healight bracket/support. I am starting the work tomorrow and woulld love any tips or an idea of any extra parts needed.

Also I now have a 1986 style 3" cowl hood. Bolt on and in very nice shape. Let me know if anyone is interested. Also would love a trade for a 2" to 4" cowl hood off an 87-93. Thanks

once u get the headlights out basically you unbolt the bumper from the fenders along the inside. theres a bunch of nuts and the bumper has studs pressed into it that extend into the fenders on the inside. once u take all those off, there should be 2 brackets that also hold the bumper and support that attach to the radiator support. there is 4 bolts underneath the bumper that go into the radiator support as well. at that point the bumper should just fall off. then take the new bumper and either rivet or i used self tapping screws to attach it to the bumper support. from there just install in reverse...

you will also need the 87-93 front fender extensions. the body molding is also different so you may want to change that. you will need to get the plugs and bulbs for the headlites.

p.s. its hard to get a anser around this place without unwanted negitive comments.

Thanks for all the input. That helps alot. I had a For Pete and all the others. I had a 79' blown notch for a while. The nose never completely grew on me. An unmolested clean look of an 87-93 LX is the only body I havnt had yet. I just happened to get a great deal on an 86 gt.

How could you NOT love this?

Aiyeee -- yes the flame suit best be put on!

Buy a g'damn 87-93 -- leave the four-eyes alone! Period. They are becoming hard to find in good condition and unless the thing is totally ****faced wrecked up front, leave it be. Or I will be hunting you down and murdering your family and yada yada yada... ;-)

I think the 85-86 GT nose is the most aggressive Mustang nose out there.

I'd love to convert my '88 over to the 4-eye nose. I just may do it someday too.

I beg to differ. I think the 79 pacecar/80-81 cobra/82 GT nose is the meanest looking nose.

I think the 4 eyes look so much better because ford designed the body of the fox mustang with the 4 eyed nose in mind. When they came out with the 87, the design of the nose was more of an afterthought because ford was dropping that platform that year in favor of the probe.

Heres my pacecar:

Hmmm....Replace Nose, lights & wiring, hood, mirrors, body moldings, belt moldings, seats, door panels, dash, center console, e-brake, tail lights, sail panels/qtr glass. Front Spindels, brakes, front shocks.....

Too Much work. I'd buy a 4 banger 89 and drop a 351 in it. Sounds easier to me.
