Hey guys I am doing a 5 lug cobra swap with sn95 spindles and I cannot get my caliper to fit the 13 inch rotor. I posted photos. Please help. It looks like the caliper braket is straight across. From what I can tell cobra brackets have ears where they bolt onto the spindle. @FastDriver

@Mustang5L5

I sold him these parts and invited to post here to see if we could help him troubleshoot. I wanna make sure things are right. I can't really make sense of what's going on from the pics, but maybe you can. I'm wondering if this difference has anything to do with the difference between 94-95 vs. 96+ spindles. Maybe a mismatch between the spindle and caliper bracket?

Maybe this will help a bit to see what he's got:

Also @henpa1. Here's the 94-95 vs. 96+ spindle difference:

I'm thinking it's not the problem, because that mount for the spindle to the caliper bracket shouldn't have anything to do with the steering knuckle. Hmm.. maybe a GT rotor bracket for 11" rotors instead of 13"? If so, I'll help you get the right ones, or as mentioned by the parts back from you. -Chris

All I can tell you is that timing cover will NOT fit that spindle!

So I sid some research. The bracket is part of the caliper and all came as one peice. Its all base level gt brake stuff. Right down to the solid rear rotor intead of vented.

Ya those look like my calipers. I bet if you look at the back side of the calioer where it attaches to the spindle they go straight across. The cobra calipers have dog ears. Thanks for the pick. Cool car.

Yeah, those are 99-04 Gt/V6 calipers. They are designed for the 10.9" rotor. They are not cobra calipers and won't work with the 13" rotor.

If oyu are trying to put these on a 94-95 spindle, you may need to clearance the spindle slightly around the piston bores to get clearance. If you don't they may interefere.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered the red powder coated Power Stop cobra calipers from Rock Auto. I hope they work as good as they look!

Well damn. I got everything in a bundle, along with a lot of other mustang stuff, from a guy who claimed they were cobra parts and took him at his word. I should probably know better, but I don't actually have the basic Cobra calipers on either of my 13" rotor cars (Brembo & Baer). So, I apologize for my unwitting misrepresentation, and won't just pass it on to you.

So, let's work something out. I'll, of course, refund your money for a full return as promised when you called with concerns, but it looks like a compromise on the spindles, which you still want, and a partial refund on the rest makes more sense for you. Let's carry on the rest via text/phone. I'm sorry for the additional trouble caused, but will make it right.

This is exactly the setup I’ll be going with (minus the coil overs) when I do my 5 lug swap. How do you like it?

The UPR moly k membe, a-arms, coilovers, cc plates, bumpsteer kit? I have the same setup on another car but this one is my daily driver and it's been in this blue car for over four years with zero issues. Makes accessing the oil pan, starter etc very easy

Here's the other car which is complete now and drives great as well
