1989 GT side skirt mounts available?

I am in the process of repainting my car dark shadow grey. When I removed the side skirts, I was horrified to see barely anything left of the metal mounting strips. They were completely rusted out and almost all the rivits were not attached (or what are they attached with?). Has anyone had this problem, and what did they do about it? Does anyone know where I could get some new ones from?

yep, had the same thing on my 89. I bought some new ones from ford. just a thought for you though, buy the ones for the long ground effect on the door and cut it into pieces for the rest. i think the one for the door cost like 17 bucks for the long piece and the short ones cost like 13 a piece. just a thought for ya

They are still available from Ford and they include new rivets in the package. Many suppliers in MMFF have them also and I think I paid $26 ea.

Order them from Mustangs Unlimited.....Got both sides for 29.00 shipped to me and they came with the rivets as well.
