Thanks for the add
I'm a new owner of a 1989 Mustamg GT convertible
I've owned it for a month
Everything was great till one day a couple of weeks ago
I drove it for about 20 mins stopped somewhere when I started back up it it idle up and down and Check engine light came on
So I googled and found this site with some great things to try
I cleaned the IAC plus order a new one changed it the next day
Ive got it to idle now but after 30 mins of driving roughly it will stall then start right back up...But it will only idle at that point so I have to let it cool down then it gets me home
I've change a bunch of parts and everyone I change one I think I have it
I understand the car is a 1989 and I really don't mind charming the parts I put in it so far because some of them needed to be changed
I changed
Idle air control
Throttle position sensor
Fuel filter
Temp sensor
Maf sensor
Cap and rotor
I ordered oxygen sensors for today
Fuel pressure stay at about 32psi even when it's acting up
It has a EGR valve can I lick it off to eliminate this
These are the check engine light codes I got
11
16
68
79
68
79
Any help appreciated
My buddy says aell it but I Luv it I can't
Thanks

There is a checklist for idle/stall issues, start at the top and do it step by step, don't skip around.

DO NOT LICK THE EGR!!! There is no telling what is on that thing! Ewwwww. Besides licking it wont fix anything. :jester:
Hahaa that’s awesome I won’t lick any more EGR’s.

Thanks a lot!!

Those codes are not valid to an 89 mustang. You might be off one digit.

Code 68 might really be code 67...in which you need to keep clutch pedal pressed in entire time you are dumping codes.

I won’t guess at the other ones but you should rerun them again? What method did you use?

I highly recommend an innova 3145 meter. $20 at many sources online.
