Engine 1990 5.0 ac only blows out of defrost

You have a broken vacuum line in the engine bay along the firewall, going from the firewall to the vacuum tree or under the dash coming from the engine bay and going into the blending box.
It's also possible that the actuator for the blending box is bad.
When you lose vacuum, the vents default to the defrost position.
